The party was great. We hosted a party and it turned out terrific. The guide helped us to set the mood - which was really relaxed and filled with good humored people. The kit was what it claimed to be, a good way to start a wine
tasting party - just add wine, and people. Basically this kit gives you the things you need to have an interactive wine tasting party with a minimum of fuss. Use this as a good starter kit and then for the next party you can modify some of the ideas to fit your home and friends.

I don't think this is suitable for your 'taste and spit' kind of crowd but more for people that want to get together and enjoy the fellowship of sampling wines and then comparing comments. You sometimes need to be a little brave to host a party and this helped us a lot and we got to know quite a few new people in town. I liked the tasting cards, they act as a guide for what to look for when you are trying wines. We had lots of laughter.

A more accurate description of the contents: 8 brown paper bags, 8 pieces of ribbon, 8 bic-type pens, cheap corkscrew like they give away in the liquor store, 8 postcard invites printed black on white (oh, one splash of color for a line of type and the wine in the glass), 8 rings of paper that you can put around the bottom of the glass to id your glass, a decent wine ratings card (8), includes how to taste on the reverse, a 12 page booklet on how to throw a party. The kit's main purpose is to get you to form a club and buy more kits. Perhaps I'm a little jealous of its creators! Don't forget to add tax and shipping! Save your money and just do a little research on wine tasting; and buy some decent party supplies!

Throw a wine tasting party with minimal planning--even if you know nothing about wine tastings! December 6, 2006

This summer we decided to hold a wine-tasting themed realtor open house. Our local wine bar recommended some good bottles and we could easily acquire wine glasses. But from there, I had no clue. I know nothing about wine tastings and even less about where to find the supplies. I started doing some internet research and was surprised at how many little things I needed--wine bags, wine glass markers, rating cards, etc. Furthermore, how would I (who knows nothing about wine) explain to someone else how to "taste" it?

I was in the midst of exploring other options when I came across the SWILL wine tasting kit. It contained all the little items I needed and even had a "hosting 101" book to guide you through hosting your wine tasting, and a "how to taste" booklet for each guest. I ordered some expansion packs (we had far more than 8 guests) and was done! It allowed me to stick with the wine tasting theme, told me how to throw the party, told the guests how to participate in the party and supplied everything but the food, wine and glasses...and at a fraction of the price and time I would have spent otherwise.

The party went smoothly and kept the focus on the wine! We even purchased additional kits and gave them away as door prizes. The realtors loved them and were even talking about giving them away as "thank you" gifts to their clients. All in all, a very successful event and I look forward to throwing the next one (with the help of SWILL, of course!).

This is a really cool concept -- it basic throws a party for you (just add friends and copious amounts of wine). Our SWILL party turned out great and this kit was a huge hit.
