4 out of 5 stars Definitely beat my expectations!   December 1, 2008
I bought this hesitantly after researching the tassimo and dedicated espresso machines. I wanted occasional lattes and espressos but I feared an expensive real espresso maker would gather dust on my counter. I also doubted something so cheap could make a decent espresso. I remember how gross the stuff from my 40-dollar Mr Coffee steam machine was and I didn't want to relive that.

Otherwise I'm fine making drip coffee in bulk and refrigerating it to get me up during the week.

The Braun machine felt chintzy and they never seemed to move off the shelves. The bosch has a more solid feel and represents to me a rededication by the company(s) to support the product and keep the t-discs available. I also figured the store's return policy was good enough that I could just bring it back if it sucked.

Well color me shocked at the ease of use and the good quality of the brews! I thought it would taste like those instant coffee drinks made from extracts but not at all. Even the latte/cap milk cartridges tasted good (surprise)!

My only reasons for giving fewer than five stars:

I don't seem to get the same caffeine jolt from these coffees, although they don't taste weak (like the Keurig coffees can)

There's a lot of packaging materials in the t-discs...I have to clean each one out and recycle it b.c I refuse to landfill them (especially if I make two shots of espresso and a creamer thing for one drink)

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Great! Better than Kurieg!   November 28, 2008

I did my research between Bosch/Tassimo and Kurieg. Purchasing the Tassimo was the best choice! I like the fact that you can brew popular coffees like Starbucks, Seattle's Best, etc. Kurieg had some strange and UNKNOWN brands that I really didn't like. I also like the Tassimo's filtering system and that it really makes the coffee hot. Kurieg is bigger and takes up too much space while the Tassimo is so much smaller and quieter. Don't waste your time on the Kurieg- the Tassimo is awesome! Also, take advantage of registering your Tassimo so you can get two free bags of coffee pods of your choice.

5 out of 5 stars Way to go Tasimo!   November 25, 2008

On impulse I purchased the Keurig machine while out shopping. New to the single-serve world of coffee, I brought the machine home and proceeded to listen to what sounded like a 747 lifting off on my kitchen counter. The coffee choices were vast (which propeled me into my purchase) but back to the store it went, approximately 15 hours and four cups of terrible coffee later. I purchased the Tassimo as a second attempt and boy, am I glad I did. Much quieter, a richer coffee brew, and less splatter to name just a few things. Sure, not as much variety in flavors, which I hope the manufacturer will establish, but what they do have is delicious. I was completely impressed with the Maxwell House line of coffees. A bit of a coffee snob myself, I again impulse purchased (some people never learn!) the Maxwell House cappuccino and was plesantly surprised! If you are looking for a gift for a coffee drinker-this is your machine!

5 out of 5 stars Great improvements   November 19, 2008

Don't get me wrong,I loved my older Braun. I was always a little frustrated, though, about having to lift off the water tank cover to refill the water tank. The Bosch has many refinements over the Braun, the most rewarding to me is the fill hole they put in the water tank cover. Just fill the tank up while the cover is still in place. Another great improvement is not having to sit and wait for the water to heat up after insertions of a new t-disk. Hit the button almost immediately after inserting the new disk. Finally, you can lift out the cup stand and insert a tall latte cup without having the overfill outlet pushing water everywhere. If you are a Tassimo fan, you will love the new machine.

5 out of 5 stars Bosch Tassimo is a new twist on a great idea   November 16, 2008

When my Braun Tassimo unit died after two years I knew I had to replace it because I really like the convenience and flavor Tassimo serves AND I had quite a few discs left to brew. The Bosch takes the product to a new level. While many of the features are the same, the differences show a good product evolution. It is smaller, much quieter and easier to clean. The water filter life indicator is a nice touch.
I was happy with the Braun unit but like this Bosch even more.
