Mother of Pearl Coasters - Set of 6

Mother of pearl is a special and beautiful material made from the shells of sea creatures such as oysters. It is constructed from nacre, a secretion produced by the oyster from minerals in its diet. When this same secretion coats a foreign body that has made its way into the oyster's shell, the result is a pearl.

Like pearls, mother of pearl has long been prized for its ability to reflect light, producing a subtle rainbow of colors. For centuries, artisans around the world have appreciated the unique qualities of mother of pearl and used it to create beautiful decorative objects.
