Without much room available to move the wine, the Duck has to be considered an elegant showpiece, not really intended for serious decanting to "open it up". A full 750ml bottle poured into the Duck will fill it almost to the lower rim of the silver neck; very little aeration is possible at this point.

The appearance of a nice red wine decanted into the Duck, on a perfect table setting, is quite stunning. The Duck will do a great job with whites, light reds and older wines where full "swish" aeration isn't desirable. However, if you've just uncorked something that needs to breathe, especially younger New World reds, pick up any of the alternatives which offer a much wider base. They'll get the job done much more effectively.
