Named for the Dominus wines, which are a Bordeaux blend, this decanter is suitable for moderate to major aeration of Bordeaux region wines and a variety of other aged reds. The larger magnum version of this decanter holds two full bottles of wine and has a wider base than neck in order to expedite the oxidation process. The simple yet elegantly designed Dominus magnum decanter has a rounded base and body that slopes into a long 6-inch neck, and slightly flared 1--inch pouring lip. A bulb-shaped stopper covers the mouth between pourings. This decanter is mouth-blown of non-lead crystal, stands 14-3/8 inches tall, is 5 inches wide at its base, and holds 69-1/2 ounces. --Cristina Vaamonde

GREAT DECANTER. Why Lie About the Size? September 8, 2007

Does not appear to have fragility issues like Reidel duck decanter which inevitably will chip around the edge of the spout. The only reason this gets 4 stars instead of a perfect 5 is Riedel's exaggeration about the capasity.

It holds 62 ounces. If you try and pour 69 1/2 ounces into it, you'll have 7 1/2 ounces all over your counter.

Riedel, why the lie? You already call it a magnum decanter which will suffice for most wine nuts...

Great decanter, just don't understand the need to LIE.

btw, I will be buying more "Riedel Dominus Magnum 62 Ounce Decanters".
