sparkling sounds from beautifully simple porcelain cup July 31, 2008
The cup was designed by Walter Gropius a German architect and founder of Bauhaus. I was first served tea in a Rosenthal TAC O2 set during travels in Berlin. Pouring tea into the cup with bits of natural cane sugar crystals in the bottom of the cup animated them and caused them to hit the sides of the cup creating a brightly sparkling sound like little porcelain bells. Kind of a sweet and majestic experience.
