In spite of its impressive height and ample capacity, the Vinifera Magnum decanter from Riedel is beautifully manageable in action. Crafted with a domed body and a vertical neck, the decanter enlarges the wine's surface area for increased exposure to oxygen. This, in turn, improves flavors by letting bouquets develop and open up. A heavy crystal stopper covers the lovely polished lip with perfect balance to prevent over-oxidization. Mouth-blown by premier Austrian glassmakers, the piece is crafted from full-lead crystal for exceptional clarity and brilliance. Standing a striking 14-1/2 inches high, stopper included, the decanter holds 52-7/8 ounces at full capacity. Riedel recommends washing it by hand. --Emily Bedard
