Beautiful at rest and striking in action, the Riedel Medoc single decanter would be worth owning simply for its appearance. Fortunately, its function is also excellent, reducing sediment in the glass and improving wine's flavor and bouquet by exposing it to more oxygen. Mouth-blown by renowned Austrian glassmakers at the world's premier wine ware manufacturer, the decanter is created from full-lead crystal. Exceptionally clear and brilliant, it shows wine to its best advantage by holding it above the tabletop with a stemmed shape. The angular spout is handsome, and the sweeping handle is gorgeous. Standing 13-3/8 inches high, the decanter holds 34-1/2 ounces at full capacity. Riedel recommends washing it by hand. --Emily Bedard
