Shaped like a carafe, the Curl water kettle is sized to boil water for about 5 or 6 servings of instant coffee, tea, or soup. Made of heavyweight polypropelene plastic, the kettle holds a maximum of 47 ounces (1.4 liters) and must be filled to a minimum of 15 fluid ounces (.45 liters)--just enough to cover the heating element--to operate. The cordless kettle locks into a small plastic electric base containing a thick-film heating element. The base takes up little counter space and allows the kettle to swivel in any direction for convenience. A floating red water level indicator on the outside of the Curl rises as water is added and shows how many cups of liquid it is holding. However, the indicator is often difficult to see within the Curl's four tiny bubble windows. A switch below the kettle's handle flips up and illuminates to show that the power is on. The heating process is rapid and quiet: it takes about 4 minutes to boil the full 47 ounces of water and the sound is almost imperceptible. For safety purposes, the Curl automatically shuts off after boiling. For safety, the kettle has a hinged spill-proof lid that opens only by a push button and a frosted handle for a secure grip. Love It!! August 30, 2008
I just like the design, it looks lovely in the kitchen, (my kitchen is white and modern so it matches perfectly). It does have flaws, the main one being the lid. I have had this kettle for about twelve years now and I am finally having to replace it for a new one. The lid broke several years ago and we just got into the habit of holding it in place while we poured out the water. (I did not know until I read here that the lid could be replaced). The other flaw is not being able to tell exactly how much water is in the kettle and if there is not enough it will not heat up although it seems to go through the motions, but when the water comes out it is still cold! We got used to the feel of the kettle eventually and knew instinctively by its weight whether there was enough water in it to make the number of cups we needed. The lid needs to be redesigned and I thought after twelve years that there would have been an improvement, but it looks as though it is still the same. Anyway, I have just ordered another, it is a great looking little thing and apart from the lid is very robust.

Bodum is not product that I would use anymore June 22, 2008
Sometimese it boils water for more than 2 minutes before auto shut off functions engages. It could lead to fires.

Is not pussible to use - Heavy stink of plastic. Tryed to remove this washing and washing no resolt. Stay away of this product!

bodum kettle review June 1, 2008
Bought this Kettle because my Krups kettle broke. I was a little disapointed at first because it is true that it is hard to see the waterline when you fill the kettle, I did not like the handle so much but I got used to it and it boils my water quickly , that's the most important part ,it looks cool ,I really like it now .

Steamy products May 9, 2008
Love, love this hot water kettle. This is my second one and only bought another to change colors in my kitchen. Fast heating,is attractive on my counter, but stores easily too. It is a simple to use product. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles. The price is good compared to other kettles. Would like to have a 3 prong plug on it however.
