Product Description
Rabbit Vacuum Wine Preserver

Amazon.com Review
Many wine connoisseurs are already familiar with the fast and furious cork-pulling action of Metrokane's Rabbit corkscrew. This bunny-eared device makes an excellent companion to the corkscrew for those evenings when you can't quite finish an entire bottle of wine. The Rabbit vacuum pump comes with two rubber push-button stoppers, which you insert into the top of your half-empty wine bottle. The pump positions over the stopper and, using the two lower handles, grips the neck of the wine bottle. The vacuum pump, operating similarly to the corkscrew, requires just four swift pumps on the ear-like handle to draw most of the air from your wine bottle (which can destroy the properties and flavor of your wine). This durable device has all-metal gear teeth and a soft, anti-slip coating on all handles to provide a solid grip. --Cristina Vaamonde

1 out of 5 stars Does work worth a flip   January 13, 2008
To get it to work you need to hold it just right, and then the only way you can tell if you have done it right is to let the pressure off. So all in all it's pretty useless.

Like the majority of the reviews relating to this product, I was disapointed in it's performance. I am able to form a seal and create a vacuum, however, hours later the vacuum is gone no matter what bottle it is being used on. Do not buy this product.

Metrokane Rabbit Lever Vacuum Pump works with the majority of wine bottles. The trick is to force it tightly down to the top of the wine bottle and hold it down while pumping back and forth very slowly until you feel the vacuum take effect.

1 out of 5 stars Inferior item   August 26, 2005

I purchased the Rabbit vacuum pump in December, 2003. I have used it several times a week since then. One of its flimsy plastic arms broke several days ago. I tried to contact its parent company, Metrokane, for several days since then. I've tried telephoning them several times and all I get is voice mail. I've sent them an e-mail without response. I've since purchased a Vacu-Vin Concerto pump and I am very happy with it. It creates a much better vacuum than the Rabbit Lever Pump. It costs less ($19.95 vs. $30.00) and I bet the company is more responsive. In general, I think their products are inferior. Their wine opener is much less expensive than comparable bottle openers such as the Lever-Pull, but they break and the Lever-Pull lasts.
