My mom got this for me and I love to can. I am looking forward till next spring when I have a garden and can home grown stuff. The only disappointing part is that the coupons that where in the box had expired about 9 months earlier.


1 out of 5 stars On Backorder when I was told it was In Stock   November 8, 2008
As another reviewer said, I ordered this item, and was sent a message within 24 hours that my kit was on backorder, and will be not be able to ship out within their normal 5-7 days. They said they would be in contact with me if the item is not going to ship within a reasonable amount of time. I looked in several places, and ordered from Polstein's Home and Beyond because of their price, even though there were some mixed reviews. I was told that it was in stock from both Polstein's and Amazon. Now I am also having the same UN-truth in advertising...so we'll see when and if I ever get communication or my kit. I would definitely NOT PURCHASE from Polstein's Home and Beyond for anything.


5 out of 5 stars Great kit for a reasonable price   August 20, 2008
First time I've canned in years, and I had to replace the equipment I used to have. This kit enabled me to do that pretty much all at once, since it does have all you really need for water-bath canning. Would rather it came with quart jars instead of pints, but that's just a personal preference. The included Ball Blue Book of Preserving is a fantastic help, especially because home-canning practices have changed so much due to updated food safety information since I last canned years ago. The book includes sections on many other kinds of preserving besides canning, and has a number of interesting recipes I plan to try. All in all this kit is a really good value.

I was disappointed as I thought the canner would be smaller then the regular canner. The only difference was the insert for the jars to set on. I think dimension should be given on the canner itself. The accessories were a big help. The magnetic lid tool and the air release tool also.

We were pleased with the product. We haven't used it yet; just got it yesterday. But all of the products were just what we needed; the book and coupons were like a bonus. I think more companies should offer incentives like that. And the best thing was the shipping; it arrived at our door days earlier than even the quoted earliest arrival date when I placed the order. I'm always impressed with a shipment comes earlier than expected. I'm glad that we went with Uncle Joe's Warehouse to order this kit. All in all, we were satisfied with everything!!
