Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This Pressure Iron was built with the consumer in mind. The powerful vertical steam option allows the iron to be used in an upright position to remove wrinkles from hanging garments, including curtains, drapes and slipcovers. The steamer has variable steam control so output levels can be adjusted to fabric type. It has a ergonomic trigger for immediate powerful steam. A stainless steel soleplate built with non-scratch properties creates an excellent glide. The steam is distributed through a 6 foot long steam cord for optimal versatility. The water capacity is extra large, at 33-oz., for 1.5 hours of autonomy. The 12 foot long electrical cord provides greater convenience and the compact base fits most ironing boards. Please note tap water is not recommended for this iron.

2 out of 5 stars Major Design Defects Keep this Steamer on the Sidelines   April 20, 2008

I can confirm what the other reviews have said.

Obviously, this iron doesn't have a clear tank, but what isn't readily apparent is that it also has no indication of the amount of water left. I'm forever running out of water in the middle of ironing. Refilling isn't as simple as adding water because the tank gets so hot that you have to let it cool first, or it will spray boiling water and steam all over the place.

I also call this iron the "ready, ready, ready... NOT ready" iron, because it shuts of the boiler for the steam tank, acting like it has steam ready, but then when you pick up the iron and press the steam button, water gushes out and the boiler light switches back on: "NOT ready".

Meantime, my hands are big enough that I'm forever bumping the temperature knob when I go to pick it up, and the stickers / labels seem to have loosened and are peeling off... as a result of heat.

The only positive comment I have is that, when this iron finally does heat up, the amount of steam that it generates is greater than a standard iron with a built-in tank. I would, however, suggest spending your money elsewhere.

I was so excited when I saw a Bloomingdales store demonstration of this item and bought it on the spot. What a disappointment. This iron leaks water, no matter what setting you put it on. I have ruined several clothing items, due to either water spots or burned water spots. Waste of money.

I returned this iron the day after I bought it. It leaks water no matter what setting it is on....leaks is too mild a word. It pours water...and the vertical steam option is laughable. It absolutely does NOT even relax the wrinkles in curtains or any other fabric. When I tried to iron on the low setting, white marks appeared on the fabric. There was nothing about this iron that pleased me. I called customer service and they went through the same things that the pamphlet in the box tell you to do. Nothing improved the iron.

I like the steam that the iron puts out, but if not careful, you will get lots of water marks. I also think that for the price of this iron it should have included a water level so that you can see with the water gets low. I also do not like the amount of time you have to wait for the iron to be ready (7 minutes or more). Not having to fill the tank so much is a plus when you have a lot of ironing to do. When using the right amount of steam it does a great job.

I've recently started ironing everything I wear. This made me yearn to ease the job with high end equipment. I bought this steam generator after reading the "professional quality for the home" reviews along with a Rowenta expert ironing board.
After ~10 tanks (which go much faster than I expected) of tap water I can say that this is a VERY good iron and will get your clothes looking good...but not as if they were done at the cleaners. Compared to my girlfriends extreme budget iron I can see a difference...but compared to my Mother's Rowenta iron(non-steam generator type)..I can tell little difference.
I took one star for the high cost and another due to the LONG waiting periods for the "steam generator" to generate steam, about ~10+ minutes when filled completely.
For your average user, save some $ and get a typical iron as it is much more convenient as well.
