Beautifully Made, But Oversized October 22, 2004

I am a fan of Wusthof knives, and these are no exception. This set is ultra sharp, well balanced, and features full tang construction. Although hand washing is recommended, the set is dishwasher safe, which I view as an attractive bonus in knives of this quality. The knives are serrated which helps them carve virtually anything with great ease. They are tailor made as steak knives, but can do occasional double duty as general purpose utility knives as well.

The knives are very well crafted and for quality I give them five stars. I have subtracted a star in an overall rating for excessive size (in both length and width of blade). There are times when knives of this size are called for, but steak knives that are 11.5 inches long are a bit cumbersome for use at the dining table. Yes, they are immaculately made, but before buying this set consider that you will be waving extremely hefty cutlery almost a foot long around in close quarters. With that caveat, I recommend this set.
