Rosenthal's TAC 02 dinnerware takes its inspiration and name from the original designs of renowned architect Walter Gropius, founder of the Bauhaus movement and later The Architects' Collaborative (TAC) in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Epitomizing Gropius's love of clean, modern forms free of ornamentation, TAC 02 is all-white, streamlined, and a compelling blend of curves and angles. The collection is indicative of Rosenthal's commitment to excellent design.

Similar in shape to the TAC 02 creamer, the 18-1/2-ounce sauce boat resembles an upside-down teacup, with a slightly squared front to accommodate the spout. The low-swept, bent-elbow handle on the other side adds balance, and the recessed foot creates an intriguing floating effect. The sauce boat works beautifully for serving everything from gravy to maple syrup, and like all TAC 02 pieces, is crafted from fine, semi-translucent porcelain that is conveniently safe for both the microwave and dishwasher. --Ann Bieri
