Founded in 1756, Austria's Riedel Crystal is the world's premier manufacturer of wine glasses and has always catered to the fine wine connoisseur. However, these wine tumblers are part of the company's first attempt at producing a lower priced wine glass for casual entertaining. Like Riedel's prestigious Vinum series of glasses, these tumblers are specifically designed for a particular grape varietal and still maintain their ability to enhance the flavors and aromas of the wines they were intended for. The only difference is that the tumblers are missing their stems, making them slightly less delicate to handle, more modern in appearance, and easier to fit in smaller cabinets, mini bars, picnic baskets, and the dishwasher.

The O series of glasses are made of machine-made of non-leaded glass. The shape of the two glasses in this set is specifically recommended to balance the fruit, acidity, and sugar in wine varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling. These Reidel O's are wonderful to use, take up little space in the dishwasher and complement wine wonderfully.

These glasses suffer from all the faults of stemless stemware-greasy fingerprints, easy to drop, fingers blocking the sight of the lovely drink within. They also share in the advantages-easier to store, harder to knock over.

What makes this SB/Riesling glass so useful is that it's a really great way to serve spirits. A shot of cognac or wood-aged rum gets just the right amount of concentration on the way to your nose. (snifters are too big, Riedel Ouvertures too curved)

To me these are perfect. I like good quality wine glasses but for everyday use stemware is fragile and not practical. These are wonderful quality in a design that makes them useful and easy to care for (I put them in the dishwasher). Makes a great gift for for those who enjoy a nice glass of wine.

I really like these glasses except for the fact that they are so easily broken. I bought this set to replace some that broke. Of course I do put them in the dishwasher but still....

Riesling Wine Tumblers October 2, 2007
I was so pleased to receive the two sets of two wine tumblers. They are great. They sound like the real thing. So far, no one has knocked them over and they wash in the dishwasher wonderfully.
