Great Martini Glasses March 31, 2008

I had ordered a set of Spiegelau Vino Grande martini glasses back in 2003 from amazon and they arrived at perfect condition. The main reason why I had not purchased martini glasses from the retail stores in my area was due to either lack of aesthetics or material quality. If you are going to serve sophisticated cocktails made with a variety of expensive ingredients, then your glasses should also be in tune with them; that is, they have to look good, without any funky or cheap feel to them. Spiegelau absolutely fulfilled all of my expectations in that regard: these martini glasses delivered top-notch built quality with delicate yet not fragile crystal and elegant aesthetics. This was all I was asking for, and Spiegelau gave it to me.

I have been ordering from Spiegelau since then. I had made a comprehensive research about many manufacturers before I decided to order several sets of crystal glasses, and Spiegelau was the most impressive. I love their glasses, I don't even bother looking into other manufacturers product lines when I want to order chic crystal glasses. I highly recommend these glasses to anyone with similar taste.

Medium quality set - but nice price for the 6 of them January 11, 2008
This is a very good set for those that are looking for a mid-quality, fine-looking cocktail glass. The quality definitely comes up short from the Riedel Vinum series, which are truly very high quality and in my opinion, well worth the additional costs above these. These Spiegelau glasses just don't have that nice resounding 'ring' to them (as the Riedels do) and they also still show the occassional seam remnants on the stem from the molds. Only the particularly picky users will notice these differences, but as I often drink wine from Riedel, it is noticeable to me.

On the plus side, these glasses do have additional capacity over the Riedel martini glasses, which is appreciated while I mix a cold manhattan after a hard day at work.

Martini Glasses January 7, 2008
Nice looking martini Glasses.........Good news!

Two out of six broken upon arrival....Bad news!

Very very poor packaging and they won't let you keep the unbroken ones you have to send them all back just to replace and hope none will be broken in the second shipping. Too much work. Not worth it. Double bad news!!

Broken Glass December 31, 2007
As has been stated repeatedly in previous reviews, the martini glasses are excellent, but it is almost certain that they will arrive with one or more of the six glasses broken. The original shipment arrived with one broken. I apparently made what could be an irreversible mistake in only returning the single broken glass. After only a brief time I received the replacement, which much to my surprise contained the full set of six glasses, of which three were broken. Foolishly, I simply replaced the one broken glass from the original set and wrapped it as a Christmas gift. I thought this was the end of the story, but yesterday I received a message from Amazon informing me that if I didn't return the broken glasses from the original shipment (which I had done) I would be billed for a second set of six glasses. Who needs this aggravation? They have known for sometime now that the packing of these glasses was inadequate and yet they continue to ship them in the same manner. Regardless how nice the martini glasses are, it is definitely not worth all this trouble.

BROKEN five out of six December 20, 2007
This is ridiculous. I ordered these glasses as a Christmas gift. The packaging is a complete joke. The bottom of the inner box is smack up against the bottom of the outer box, and the "lick and a promise" paper wrapping of the glasses also does not protect against drops, nothing really underneath each glass. I can't even ask for a replacement, it is so obvious that they will arrive broken with each shipment. Amazon and Spiegelau should both be ashamed of this situation.

PS Amazon customer service is great and they managed to get me an unbroken replacement set in time to be given as a gift. Great work guys! But I'm not revising the rating, this is a bad gamble and people need to realize that. The packaging is totally inadequate.
