This unique duck-shaped decanter has a funnel-like neck for pouring wine in and a wide body that allows for excellent oxidation. Exposure to the air will awaken flavors and aromas in older wines and soften astringent flavors in young wines. When wine is oxidized, hosts can pour glasses through a narrow spout in the decanter's "tail." As with the majority of Riedel's fine wine glasses and accessories, this elegant decanter is mouth-blown of 24-percent full lead crystal, which shows wine's natural brilliance and clarity. I purchased this for red wine. The decanter is beautiful, but expensive. I find that I don't use it that much, it takes up to much room on the table. I should have purchased a tall decanter.
