Amazon.com Review
One of the irritating things about vacuuming is dragging or pushing that big thing around the living room. A better solution would be a compact but powerful vacuum that moves where you move, with a convenient strap that fits over your shoulder. That's the Orca Mini-Vac--named after the killer whale for its plump-bodied shape and silver and black accent colors. Its sturdy body and 600-watt motor make the Orca suitable for household or light workshop use. Because of its flexibility, it's especially helpful for cleaning drapes, couches and architectural details such as moldings, doorjambs, and windowsills.

In addition to the carrying strap, it comes with a 2-1/2-foot flexible extender hose and two finial attachments--a crevice tool and a dusting brush. These attachments fit either directly into the body of the Orca or into the end of the hose, to fit the needs of various vacuuming tasks. The 14-1/2-foot power cord gives enough room for maneuvering around fairly large household rooms.

Cleaning the Orca Mini-Vac is very easy. The collector cup detaches for easy emptying, and the filter is removable and can be washed in warm, soapy water. (The filter should be entirely dry before being replaced in the vacuum cleaner.) The motor/handle section is not immersible, and it is not advisable to put any of the components in the dishwasher. The Orca is not designed for wet or damp material. The vacuum measures 10 by 6 by 7 inches. Top Innovations products include a one-year warranty against defects and come with a detailed instruction booklet. --Garland Withers

1 out of 5 stars THANKS TO REVIEWERS - SAVED ME FROM BUYING THIS ITEM   May 24, 2007

Just wanted to thank the reviewers..........saved me from buying this one. I'm going for the Shark for about the same amount of money on eBay - ALSO, anyone shopping for these vacs, please note that even the Shark comes in various suction strengths and power, depending on what you need it for.

THANKS PREVIOUS PURCHASERS for your comments! You saved me from making a poor purchase! :-)

2 out of 5 stars OK, but already looking for a new hand vac   April 21, 2007

I bought this vacuum in 2005, mainly to keep the couches clean of dog hair. This vacuum works OK, but only gets a little bit of the hair. Cup fills up real fast. My mom has a Shark and that just sucked up the dirt and hair. So I will probably replace this with a newer Shark.

3 out of 5 stars Not really worth it   October 7, 2006
The OC-910 is an okay hand held vacuum. It is pretty powerful for its size, but it has two vents on its side that constantly blows out hot air while on. You have to go back to each spot a couple times just to get the mess it blew away.

Its a good vacuum, just not what I expected.

1 out of 5 stars Too Hot to Handle   June 23, 2006

The vacuum I received quickly overheated and became too hot to hold or handle. The suction was great and the size very convienent. But the heat from the motor made it impossible to use safely.

4 out of 5 stars Good vacuum, but received a used unit   June 15, 2006
2 out of 2 found this review helpful

This vacuum performs adequately. It's not as heavy as it looks. The only wide attachment has a brush on it, so it's not great for vacuuming up large areas of course sawdust, for example. The only other problem is that because it's so small, the outflow ducts on the sides of the unit are rather close to the inflow, so you get two lateral blasts of hot air blowing very close to what you're vacuuming, blowing some of it around. (The trick is to vacuum AWAY from yourself, not towards, so that you pick up the dust before the outflow vents blow on it.)

Also, like another reviewer, the vacuum I received was used, with the previous owner's pubic hair in the filter trap. Like any store, Amazon (or perhaps the vacuum's distributor) resells returned merchandise. That's fine. They just need to be much more careful when assessing the condition of returned items. Clearly, they don't bother checking the inside of returned units as well as they check the outside. (In the end, Amazon refunded me for this without too much red tape.)
