Named for the tea plant, camilla sinensis, whose central spray is featured in this pattern, Camilla was originally designed circa 1833. This date coincides with the development of underglaze pink in the manufacture of transferware. Camilla's ornately engraved border features Italian renaissance scroll motifs. Here is a china pattern which will live most happily amongst an informal collection of antiques. Although it may appear somewhat formal it is perfectly capable of standing up to washings in the dishwasher and the warming of leftovers in the microwave.
