Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The Grill Hook provides "pin-point" control for turning food on a barbecue grill. It's not only fast and easy but it is also a lot of fun. Using a hook has the added benefit of keeping your hand a comfortable distance from a hot grill (so you barbecue the meat, not your hand). But "No" you say. "I don't want to let the juices out of the meat by using a hook." Well consider this: more juice can be released by squeezing the meat with tongs than by poking it with a hook. When you use a hook the sharp stainless steel tips hook the edge of the meat, not the center where the juices accumulate. The point being that the hook will just barely penetrate the meat on the seared edge where the juices have been sealed in.The Grill Hook provides greater control, even with heavy cuts of meat. Use with ribs, steaks, chicken and tri-tip.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars excellent tool   August 6, 2008
I purchased this tool and it works great! The way to use it is described by the pictures. You hook the edge of the meat. You will be able to lift a big piece of meat with this tool with one hand very easily! Much better than tongs which require more hand strength to keep the tongs closed AND lift the food.

Highly recommended

1 out of 5 stars Not for steaks.   August 5, 2008
This type of turner isn't good for any steaks, chops, chicken, or of course fish. To quote Raichlen: "The proper way to turn meat on a grill is with tongs or a spatula. Never stab the meat with a carving fork - unless you want to drain the flavor-rich juices onto the coals." This, for all intents and purposes is exactly the same as a carving fork.
