This versatile system forecasts local weather; automatically sets and updates the time, day, and date; keeps track of the indoor temperature; and employs a remote, wireless sensor to record the outdoor temperature up to 100 feet away. For forecasting weather within 12 to 24 hours, the 6-1/4-by-4-1/4-inch monitor employs a built-in electronic barometric-pressure sensor and then displays the upcoming weather with an icon (sunny, partly sunny, cloudy, rain/snow) on its backlit LCD screen. For keeping track of time, the monitor is equipped with a radio receiver tuned to the U.S. atomic clock; this enables the monitor to maintain split-second accuracy by automatically adjusting, if necessary, to the atomic clock's signals six times every 24 hours. From those signals, the monitor also displays the date, the day, and the time zone for which the user has set the clock. Also, the clock automatically adjusts for daylight saving time and for leap year. The monitor beams the time and the outdoor temperature onto a wall or ceiling in large, red numerals for easy readability. If the monitor is in battery-mode (four AA batteries included), pressing the clock's snooze bar will beam the data for five seconds. If the monitor is plugged into a wall socket with an AC adapter (included), the projection will be available either for five seconds with the snooze bar or continuously if a continuous-beam control is set. The projection beam comes from a device mounted next to the clock. The device pivots so the beam can be projected onto any surface, and a dial focuses the beam for clarity. Great projection, but temp doesn't always work November 26, 2008
We really love the projection clock, but it seems when the temperature gets down to 40 or below the signal doesn't work, so you will see --- instead of the temp. However, I would still buy this clock.

Fun for a year or two before it breaks... October 28, 2008
I've owned this clock since fall of 2004. At first it was AWESOME aside from the annoying high pitch noise when you hit the snooze button to light the clock up and the ultra quiet "squeek... squeek... squeek..." of the alarm clock. I bought it because any sort of light keeps me awake and I was sick of covering the display of my old alarm clock each night. This is nice because there is no bright light from the clock aside from the projection on the ceiling, which NEVER kept me awake.

After about a year I started having issues with the thing. I had to buy a new outdoor temperature sensor box ($15 or so) because the display went out on my first one and because it stopped sending a signal to the clock, resulting in annoying display of "--.-F" on my ceiling at night. The new box has since failed in the same ways. The display on the projection part of the clock AND the temperature sensor box started to go out (it's to the point where there is no first number and the second number is half gone as well, leaving me only with the minutes displayed), and the clock fails to pick up a signal from the temperature sensor even with the temperature sensor sitting right on top of the clock. I can't get the clock unit to pick up a signal to set the time now either and the thing hasn't even moved in 4 years.

It's fun for awhile and for those who have disposable income. I don't and I expected a much better product considering this costs ten times as much as the alarm clock that I had for 18 years before trading it in for this $50 piece of junk. It's going into to the trash today.

Grandpa likes it! September 1, 2008
I bought this clock for my grandpa for his birthday and he loves it! Says it works great and enjoys being able to tell what the weather will be like when he first wakes up, lol.

atomic clock.

pros:

accuracy. got to have at least one clock in the house as an impecable time machine.

spotlighting of the time and temp on the ceiling in big red numerals certainly gets your attention at 3am. makes me laugh and shake my head.
great idea.

cons:

five second backlight is too short. ten seconds would be better for us smooth brain old guys.

the alarm sucks, again for us older dudes. my wife, three rooms away, said "is that the alarm?" i had the clock up to my ear and said "what alarm?" i mean she has dog ear hearing, and i don't. hmm, i mean that in a nice way. i suggest the manufacturer crank it up a cuasimoto(sp)or two (humped back ND bell ringer) for us slightly hearing challenged people and heavy duty sleepers.

overall, i do like the device and would buy it again for the accuracy and the red numbers on the ceiling.
