Amazon.com Review
Monitor temperatures indoors and out with Taylor's wireless weather instrument. Since 1851, Taylor has been manufacturing thermometers of every kind--from candy thermometers to industrial freezer gauges. This weather system has a base unit that relays information from an accompanying outdoor sensor. With a little meteorological foreknowledge you'll know to pack a jacket on brisk mornings, or bring an umbrella when stormy weather's on the way. This handy gadget also monitors indoor temperatures. Its base easily mounts to a wall or stands upright on tables and window ledges. The system records daily minimum and maximum temperatures, plus has a low-battery indicator. An easy-to-read LCD display on the monitor and sensor has 2/3-inch-high digits, and provides temperature readings in both Celsius and Fahrenheit.

This versatile climate tool displays indoor temperatures from +23 to +122 degrees F, and outdoor temperatures from -4 to +140 degrees F. In colder environments, two AA lithium batteries in the outdoor sensor allow users to monitor temperatures as low as -40 degrees F. The system has a transmission range of 100 feet between base unit and sensor. To extend its reach, or monitor temperatures in a swimming pool or fish pond; just use the included, removable, 11-foot cable.

Taylor's high-tech weather gage accommodates up to three remote sensors and runs on four AA alkaline batteries (not included). The base unit measures 3 by 3 by 1 inches, while the transmitter measures 3 by 2-3/4 by 1 inches. When shipped, the complete system measures 8-4/5 by 8 by 2-1/4 inches and weighs 1 pound. This product is covered by a one-year, limited warranty. --Jessica Reuling

1 out of 5 stars For Short Distances Only   November 23, 2008
I purchased this device with two remote sensors to monitor temperature in two adjacent rooms of my instrument shop. The intended distance was 25 feet-well under the 100 foot specification. The intervening walls are wooden studs and sheet rock and there is little or no interfering electronics here. The connection keeps fading in and out at these distances. Further testing indicates that the system only works within about 10 feet.

5 out of 5 stars Simple and reliable.   September 3, 2008

I've owned this device for at least a couple years and love it. Never had a problem with it. I keep one sensor outside and another on my night stand. For $20 it's worth it.

1 out of 5 stars Not what I expected.   April 3, 2008
I guess you get what you pay for.
First off,Taylor CLAIMS that the remote will work up to 100' away from the base station. After moving the remote several times, optimum distance was more like 25'feet.On the plus side, indoor temp readings were fairly accurate.Negative side-outdoor accuracy was WAY off--usually about 10 degrees lower than standard outdoor thermometer. Not worth the price of shipping it back for a refund.Do NOT reccomend.

1 out of 5 stars different temps   November 18, 2007
I bought this unit several months ago. Seemed to be ok at first but I'm having a problem with the probe. It's reading over 10deg higher than the units. Also, the main units, if placed right next to each other differ by approx one degree and several percentage points for humidity. Right now: Base unit: 68.0deg/22%, Remote: 68.7deg/27%, Probe: 80.6deg. I wouldn't recommend this. Another Made in China piece of junk.
