5 out of 5 stars Sheer bloody genius, the ultimate tool for the modern barbarian!   July 18, 2008
I bought one of these at a dollar store about 7 years ago... I have been using it ever since!!!!

Laugh if you want, but design-wise this thing is sheer genius!! Try moving hotdogs and flipping hamburgers around the grill with your regular tongs... oh wait you can't! You'll need to swapout a set of tongs and a spatula. Being that it's a "spatu-tong", you can grip and flip your food... ever had a burger or fish run away during flipping... Never again with this baby! :)
This truly is the tool to do it all! In terms of how well they're made, we'll they have held up for 7 years... That's a whole lot of grilling considering I'm out in knee deep snow in the winter running the grill! They are rather sturdy, I have never had them fail when lifiting the heaviest steak, or levering that sticky chicken off the grate with the spatula. There's no spring, a simple striaght forward design. When you're done you can just scour em' off and pitch em' in the dishwasher.

My pair actually came apart after about 5 1/2 years of constant use. The pin that holds them together slipped loose. Being that I could never find another pair, I just put them back together and hammered the pin a bit, and they are still working. Now that I found there here on AMAZON I'm buying 2 backup pairs for life.

Seriously, I hate to grill elsewhere and not have my spatula-tongs, it's a bloody inconvenience (I should take them with me everywhere!). Once you go spatula-tong you never go back... trust me. Oh yeah, yuppie grillers may hide these in the drawer when company comes, but you know this is the first grill tool that they'll reach for. Hey if they were "Williams and Sonoma" everyone on the block would have a pair and rave about em.

Try em' they might just change your grilling life. :) Nuff said.

The tongs are functional but cheaply made. But what do you expect for less than $5? When you add on $7.60 shipping - definitely not worth almost $12. Hope they last the summer.

We've been using this grill spatula for years & when it became clear we needed to replace it we looked everywhere for the same kind of spatula. There ARE none! This is the only one we've found that works as well for turning over hamburgers/steaks/fish/etc on the grill w/o worries of dropping what you're turning over. I was thrilled to finally find a replacement here on the net, and bought 4 at once!
