Attention farmers and sailors--and any others who might want to know more about their local weather than a local radio has to offer--this Professional Series Wireless Weather Station could very well be useful to you. More information than the average person would even know to ask for appears on readouts on a tiny cherry-tone base station only just bigger than 6 inches square. Three sensors (thermo-hygro, wind, and rain) transmit information from outdoor vantage points to the base station. Indoor and outdoor temperature (in degrees Fahrenheit and Celsius) and relative humidity are displayed. There are air pressure readings (in inHg or hPa, absolute or relative) as well as wind chill and dew point temperatures. The calendar and time displays (with manual setting option) are synchronized by tuning in to radio station WWVB in Colorado. There's even a forecast display and weather tendency indicator.

The advanced features available in this station are fairly staggering. The WS-2315AL has a detailed display of rainfall data for one-hour, 24-hour, or total-since-last-reset increments, measured in inches or millimeters. It features multiple programmable alarm functions for weather conditions such as approaching storms, heavy rains, or sudden drops in temperature or atmospheric pressure. In addition, it keeps records of all minimum and maximum values along with the times and dates of their recordings. Of special nautical interest are wind direction, displayed three ways, and wind speed in miles/hour, kilometers/hour, miles/second, knots or Beaufort scale. A COM port is included for easy connection to a PC. Heavyweather PC Interface software allows the recording and uploading of all the weather data from the base station, as well as up to 175 sets of weather history data. The Wireless Weather Station set includes: a base receiver station, a thermo-hygro transmitter (WS-2310-25), a wind sensor (WS-2310), a rain sensor (WS-2310-16), an optional wired connection for data transfer, a software in CD-Rom format for transfer of data to PC, a PC RS232 serial port cable, and an AC/DC power adapter. (Base station can also operate on three AA batteries.) The base station measures 6 by 1-1/4 by 6-1/2 inches. La Crosse provides a one-year limited warranty on its weather stations. Broken after warranty ran out August 8, 2008
Had the unit 2315 ch for a year and a half. It worked great until one day I was checking the weather and had no digital display. I changed the batteries rebooted the system and did all I coud to get the system running . It just died. It was a great tool when in worked now it is just a $150.00 display. Don't know if I'd buy La Crosse product again

Spent many hours over weekend installing and attempting to get proper operation wireless or wired with no success. Documentation is very poor for setup.
Waited for help on Monday since no support on weekend. We made multiple calls with no way to talk to a tech so we left messages that also were never returned anytime the same day. We returned ws2315 to retailer for a refund.
If our time is worth anything we spent $300 worth of wasted time trying to make something work that is very poorly engineered. Wind speed device worked 10% of time no matter if wireless or wired. Rain gauge worked fine. Inside and outside temps fairly accurate. Hunidity less so. Beautiful packaging but unfortunately the flashy look is only that when you try to put it to productive use.

I received my wireless weather station for Christmas and had it temporarily set up in two locations before installing permanently. The station works great and was easy to set up. The software is O.K. to use and the publisher software makes it a snap to post the weather to your own website for everyone to see.

My only complaint is that the wind speed sensor is blocked by the mounting bracket for a due west wind (which is the prevailing wind here). This coupled with a high starting friction on the fan makes the wind speed a little less accurate than a station that employs cups for their wind sensor.

Overall, I am satisfied for the money spent.

Item was delivered (schedule for delivery) two weeks after ordering.....not in time for Christmas, though ordered on Dec 10!!!
