We've had our smoothie maker for about a month, now, and love the smoothies we make with this product! Since its arrival, smoothies have replaced a lot of meals in our house!

Most of our smoothies, however, are too thick to come through the spigot, even with the low-speed dispensing button depressed. Also, the spigot is too low for many cups. We just remove the stir-stick and lid, and pour the smoothies into cups. In our house, licking the stick is fun reserved only for the smoothie chef!

You really don't have to run the machine very long for the smoothie to be accomplished, even with ice and frozen fruit. We noticed that if you happen to leave the machine running while you make a quick trip to the fridge for something, it starts to smell hot. It's finished with whatever you ask of it before it starts smelling hot, though. This machine makes quick business of anything you put in it -- I have a $200 professional blender that can't hold a candle to this little gem!

I wish they had given us a small lid to put over the stick-hole, though. The machine seems to do a fine job regardless of whether or not you use the stick. In fact, after you fill the container full of frozen fruit, you have to struggle to get the stick in all the way. Without the stick to close the opening at the top, you need to hold your hand over the hole when you first start it up -- you get the picture....

The unit is easy to clean by putting a little soap and water in it and giving it a few pulses. Read the directions before trying to detach the blade from the container for the first time, as it isn't obvious how it comes apart. Can't speak to durability or longevity, yet, but for however long it lasts, we see this gadget as one of our favorites in the kitchen!

We have found an easy smoothie "formula" for two servings: 1/2 of a 16oz bag of frozen fruit OR 2-3 frozen bananas (very ripe), 2 containers of yogurt to compliment flavor of fruit, 2 cups liquid (milk or appropriate juice or combination of both). About 1 tsp of sugar-free Kool-Aid or Jello will enhance flavor -- use the same flavor as the fruit.

If you add the liquid ingredients first, you don't need a measuring cup, as the smoothie maker has measurements on the side of the container. Our favorite concoction is 8 ounces frozen pineapple, 2 containers low-fat pina collada yogurt, 2 cups V-8 Pineapple Smoothie juice (OR 1 cup pineapple juice and 1 cup milk), and 2T canned coconut milk. YUM!!
