Villeroy & Boch's Cottage collection brings a bit of country style to a kitchen or dining room in either a rural or suburban setting, evoking memories of berry picking, baking pies, and simpler times. The homey pattern on this 42-1/2-ounce coffeepot features a muted white background surrounded by bunches of blackberries and leaves, plus a few crawling ladybugs. A primitively painted blue stripe lines the scalloped edge of the lid for a more authentic vintage look, while a washed-out blue strawberry, complete with leaves in bas-relief, serves as the lid's finial and adds a charming touch. Four raised "stripes" in the china along with the squared spout and ridged bamboo-style handle enhance this serveware's traditional appearance. Made of fine china, the 6-cup coffeepot has a slightly translucent appearance but offers the weight and strength of earthenware. It is durable enough to be used in the microwave and can be safely cleaned in the dishwasher. This platter coordinates with other pieces in the Cottage collection, including the Cottage Blue and Cottage Red collections with their quaint, New-England-farmhouse-style stenciled borders.
