This set of six casual dinner plates is sure to be used for three meals a day and is appropriate to kick off a collection of this metropolitan pattern. Basic without being boring, these plates, as part of Villeroy & Boch's Dune Lines collection, offer a smooth, cream-colored palette on which to highlight artistically arranged dinners. The rounded rims slope gently up and then down again, forming a slightly down-turned lip and resembling the natural contoured crests of a sand dune. The unexpected design element on each plate is the six textured, imperfectly formed beige striations that cut across each plate's center, meant to imitate the wind-formed linear ripples found in sand dunes.

This chic dinnerware matches best in kitchens with a more modern d�cor; however, the subtle colors allow it to blend in most anywhere. These plates not only coordinate with other pieces in the Dune Lines collection, but also can be mixed and matched with pieces in Villeroy & Boch's Palm and City Life collections. Made of vitrified porcelain, these 11-1/2-inch dinner plates appear slightly translucent but offer the weight and strength of earthenware.
