Serving a soft-boiled egg for breakfast has always been more of a European custom. For those Americans who have discovered this creamy delicacy, these basic but chic egg cups hold the egg still for opening the shell and spooning out the inside. As part of Villeroy & Boch's Dune Lines collection, these six cups come in a soft, off-white color and have smooth, rounded 3-3/4-inch-diameter rims with slightly down-turned lips, meant to resemble the colors and contours of a sand dune. At only 1 inch tall, this egg cup lacks the more traditional pedestal base so the egg is not raised very high from the tabletop. These cups not only coordinate with other pieces in the Dune Lines collection but can also can be mixed and matched with pieces in Villeroy & Boch's Palm and City Life collections and are subtle enough in color and style to blend in with most any modern-looking casual tableware.

Made of vitrified porcelain, these cups appear to be slightly translucent but have the weight and strength of earthenware. They are durable enough to be used in the microwave and can be safely cleaned in the dishwasher. These tableware pieces are imported from Luxembourg. --Cristina Vaamonde
