4 out of 5 stars Quality Product   October 5, 2008
I have owned this china for about 4 years now and am quite pleased with it. 18/8 Flatware can leave marks on it, but it only happens to me on plates when I press really hard.

These dishes are very durable as I tend to drop and smack dishes together a lot and have never chipped them. Overall it is a very durable and quality china for everyday use.

1 out of 5 stars Beware flatware marks these plates   April 20, 2008

I've owned the colorwave set for a couple years now. Flatware leaves gray marks all over these plates. After contacting Noritake, they told me to use Bar Keeper's Friend to clean the plates (which takes a while b/c you must make a paste and let it sit on there and then clean it by hand). You must do this after each time you use the plates. They told me that in order to remedy this situation I needed to buy 18/0 flatware b/c it doesn't contain any nickel. I'm currently using nice 18/8 oneida flatware which is nicer than 18/0 flatware. Why must I go buy bottom of the barrel flatware to use with these plates?! In summary, if you want to buy any Colorwave plates, prepare to either a) have ugly gray-marked plates on your table b) spend at least 30 minutes every day specially cleaning your plates or c) buy cheap flatware and hope that works. All of the above: Not so appealing.

3 out of 5 stars nice casual set   January 30, 2008

Saran wrap does not stick to the dishes and it is very inconvenient to store food in fridge. Some of the cups and plates have different shade of color. Brand stamps on the bottom of the dishes are smeared or double-stamped and I do not like that either.

Overall they are nice everyday dishes but I do not think they are made with careful quality control.

4 out of 5 stars Price Warning   March 20, 2007

The 4-piece service for 1 costs $29.99 while the 16-piece service for 4 costs $159.99. Therefore you are actually paying more per place setting when you buy the 16-piece set. At these prices, it makes more sense to buy the place settings individually.

2 out of 5 stars Noritake Colorwave 16 piece place setting   January 5, 2007

I ordered a 16 piece place setting , service for 4 but only recieved a 4 piece place setting, service for 1. I contacted Amazon and they arranged to have the order corrected and arrange for return for the incorrect order. Once to corrected shipment arrived again it was a service for only 1. I was charged for a service for 4. This was eventually credited back to me however since I only had 2 place settings, I purchased 2 others locally at Younker's department store. The dishes that came with from Amazon are different than the ones from Younker's. It is like the molds were different or something...the plates are deeper from Amazon and as a result the set does not stack properly. I am not certain if this inventory issue has been resolved with Amazon so buyer beware.
