Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The Toddy Maker is a simple device that uses cold water and a carefully designed filter system to produce an exceptionally pure coffee concentrate from ground coffee. The advantages of coffee brewed with the Toddy Maker make it a popular choice among both individuals and the food service industry. Cold water brewing extracts the desirable flavor elements, but eliminates many of the undesirable oils and acids found in hot brewed coffee that are not soluble at low temperatures. Cold brewed coffee tastes smoother and is easier on the stomach. Toddy coffee has been recommended by doctors to their patients who are sensitive to the acid in hot brewed coffee. The original Toddy Maker consists of a plastic brewing container with a plug and filter at the bottom. One pound of regular grind coffee and nine cups of cold water are added and allowed to steep for eight to twelve hours. The plug is then removed and the resulting concentrate is allowed to drain through the filter into a glass carafe which is also provided. The grounds are then disposed of (they make good compost) and the filter rinsed thoroughly. The concentrate must be refrigerated. To make a cup of hot coffee simply mix one part concentrate with three parts water and heat in the microwave. To make iced coffee mix one part concentrate with three parts water and serve over ice. The concentrate is good for about three weeks in the refrigerator, and can be frozen for several months

4 out of 5 stars Great Coffee...   November 22, 2008
ADVANTAGES: Easy to make coffee, coffee is very smooth and without acid taste; uses less energy to prepare, and I only prepare as much coffee as I need. Huge improvement over instant coffee when camping or touring with a kayak.

DISADVANTAGES: The system is not very attractive; the flimsy white plastic filter holder would have been better as Pyrex or ceramic. Pitcher should have a sleeker silhouette.

COMMENTS: We make a thick coffee syrup; the process takes about 12 hours with minimal prep time. Love the simplicity - just add hot water to the syrup; no more half-empty pots of coffee down the drain. Dunkin' Donuts grounds work great; the taste is much smoother and you can prepare as strong as you like. Will save you lots of $$$'s, and I like Toddy Coffee as much or better than my favorite restaurants and coffee shops. Eat your heart out, Starbucks...

5 out of 5 stars Gerat Coffee Product   October 30, 2008
The toddy system is a great coffee brewing system. There are many ways to customize your own brew, from the brewing process itself to how you mix up your drinks. The possibilities are endless. If you get a bad cup, you can only blame yourself! I would highly recommend for any coffee enthusiast or anyone who enjoys the culinary arts.

5 out of 5 stars Great Cup of Coffee   October 2, 2008
Easy to use and makes great cooffee. Once you've tried this coffee you'll never go back.

4 out of 5 stars Mixed Feelings   September 23, 2008
I love coffee but I'm not a connoisseur. I have been following manufacturer's directions and so far I have to say this method has been expensive. The coffee tastes great but I'm not sure if I feel inclined to experiment to get more out of a pound. The novelty may be worth buying it though and you can always use your automatic drip or french press for regular drinking and save the Toddy for special occasions - e.g. when you have a party. Can't comment on the low acidity claim because I don't have that problem. In short, if you're not concerned about the cost of buying more pounds of coffee, go ahead and purchase. You may love it.

5 out of 5 stars PERFECT BREW!!!   September 22, 2008
This is absolute perfection and ease in cold-filter brewing. Makes ANY house a coffeehouse without the exorbitant prices. I make my own coffee latte at a fraction of the price...and I NEVER have to wait in line or deal with attitude. LOL A MUST HAVE!
