Taking a passionate, modern-day cue from centuries-old Italian ceramics, this butter dish displays a scrolling leaf design vividly hand-painted in the colors of the Italian coast--azure blue, salmon red, and earthy yellow, with a touch of green. The oversized dish is so irresistible that "pass the butter, please" will become a constant refrain at the table. Simple details on the white base let the rich blue border of the lid take center stage. Two curls of yellow 'butter' on top of the lid form a unique handle.

Introduced by Pfaltzgraff in 2004, Villa della Luna is inspired by scenes from Dancing with the Moon: A Story of Love at the Villa della Luna. The book is the sequel to The Secrets of Pistoulet: An Enchanted Fable of Food, Magic, and Love, set in southern France, the inspiration for Pfaltzgraff's Pistoulet dinnerware line. Beautiful February 26, 2007
I didn't think my family would actually like the design, but they did. I just needed a plain old butter dish that wouldn't shatter. I'm glad I spent the extra money on this. By the way, it almost fits in the clear plastic butter compartment on my refridgerater door. It is only slightly too wide. I keep it in that compartment anyway.
