Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Product Description
The Sharp SPC317A LCD Blue Backlight Alarm Clock with Titanium Case features a large, 1-inch LCD display for excellent viewing at all time of day or night. An ascending alarm volume will ease you into your day, and a snooze/light button conveniently placed on the top of the titanium casing makes is easy to catch a few extra winks every day. Backed with Sharp's limited two year warranty, this clock requires two AA batteries that are not included.

5 out of 5 stars Great little battery alarm clock   July 20, 2008
I love this clock = Been using for 4 months and it is easy to use and has a loud alarm. The snooze bar is large and stretches across the entire front of the top of the clock, so it is easy to hit when not fully awake. Someone complained about the alarm on/off settings being on a slide bar (which also includes functions for setting the times for both the clock and the alarm), but this is a small clock, so there isn't room for lots of labeled buttons, and the slide's 4 settings are clearly labeled. Additionally, the clock's display window shows a picture of a bell when the alarm is set.

4 out of 5 stars compact clock   June 16, 2008
the digital glow clock is what I was looking for. It displays time and is easy to read. The glow is a little too bright at night but its only temporary. With a push of the button on top it lights up. A good purchase if all you want is an alarm clock.

4 out of 5 stars Good If You Have A Hearing Problem   May 23, 2008
I have had this alarm clock for several years now and am thinking of ordering another one - just in case. I am hard of hearing (not deaf) and looked and looked for an alarm that I wouldn't sleep through. This one gets louder and louder if you don't shut it off, which works fine for me.

I do agree with other reviewers that setting the alarm is a pain because of everything is set so close together on the setting bar. I have to check and recheck to make sure that I get it exactly right and that I haven't set PM when I wanted AM - that is my fault, but it happens more than I would like it to. Also the white lettering, alarm set, time set etc is wearing off.

All in all, it does what it is suppose to, wakes up someone who normally would sleep through a quiet alarm.

3 out of 5 stars One Fatal Flaw   May 20, 2008
Unfortunately, in spite of its low price and decent looks, this product has one fatal flaw, which was already pointed out by another reviewer. The time set/alarm set/ alarm on/ alarm off settings are all controlled by one sliding tab. What is bad about that is how VERY CLOSE these setting are to each other. If I try to set the alarm on this clock, I have to check it several times to make TOTALLY sure that it is set to "alarm on" and not "alarm set." You can double check by looking at the time display, but that is somewhat of a nuisance. In addition, I bought this clock for a nine year old child, and he surely is not going to figure out how to double check that the setting is correct, or take the time to do that every night.

I have decided to invest in decent clocks for my family. Next try is Bai Pick-Me-Up for my children, and Seiko Ultimate for myself. I'll let you know how those work out (in the product reviews). The continuing search for the perfect alarm clock...or at least one that is properly designed. Stay tuned...

5 out of 5 stars Excellent travel alarm clock   March 9, 2008
I realize that this clock has gotten mixed reviews, but I have found it to be an ideal travel alarm clock, and much better (at least for me) than the smaller clocks expressly designed to be "travel" alarms. It is only slightly larger and heavier (by an ounce or two) than the latter, and in return it has several advantages: a large time display, easy to find in your luggage, and easy to locate when you are repacking. In addition, it uses conventional AA batteries (rather than expensive and confusing watch batteries), and it is very inexpensive.
