Amazon.com Review
Cleaning doesn't have to take all day with this lightweight, 12-amp, upright vacuum for hard floors, carpets, and above-floor surfaces. Versatile on-board tools for above-floor cleaning include a long stretch hose, a dusting brush, furniture nozzle, crevice tool, and two extension wands, which are all conveniently within reach and easily convertible. Instead of disposable bags, this vacuum uses an E-Z Empty dirt cup, which is transparen,t so it's easy to see when it needs to be emptied. The dirt cup features a sealed chamber to trap dirt securely, a built-in handle for easy removal, and a heavy-duty, stainless-steel, pre-filter screen that only lets fine debris pass through to the main allergen filter, which traps 100-percent of dust mites and 99.98-percent of ragweed and

The vacuum's handle has three different positions for individual comfort and control while vacuuming: upright when using the various cleaning tools; operating position for general cleaning of carpet and floors; and low for reaching under furniture like sofas or beds--just step on the handle-release lever to lower the handle. Above the headlight, there is a built-in stair handle for better control and balance while cleaning carpeted stairs. Multiple carpet-height-adjustment settings provide the flexibility to quickly move from a throw rug to bare floors. The cleaner is easy to lift due to a convenient carrying handle, and for transporting, just put the handle in the upright position, tilt the cleaner back on the rear wheels, and push forward. Other features include convenient edge-cleaning capabilities, a 13-inch-wide cleaning path, and a 24-foot cord with a quick-release cord hook. An instruction manual is included to help you care for and get the most out of your Hoover Tempo. This vacuum carries a one-year warranty. --Catie Unger

1 out of 5 stars Garbage   December 3, 2007

This vacuum is a piece of plastic garbage that is now polluting our Earth in a landfill somewhere rather than cleaning my floors. It ALWAYS needed cleaning and the belt broke several times. I bought an Oreck to replace it and that has not needed one repair since I bought it over one year ago.

1 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money   December 31, 2006

I have owned this vacuum about a year. It seemed to work fine in the beginning, then it started to fall apart. I only use it on three area rugs. I replaced at least 4 belts, and the on/off switch is not working correctly. The suction is terrible and leaves a path of dirt. I dislike the bagless system and it seems like I have to constantly empty and clean the filters. I am going back to a bag/canister as soon as I figure out which one to choose.

2 out of 5 stars Cleans by spreading the dust around evenly!   December 29, 2005

After 18 months, I cannot use this vacumm anymore because blows out too much dust. The seals do not seem to fit properly and emptying the filter is dreadful. Perhaps it is the nature with all bagless vacuums, but I feel like I need a shower after emptying the dust container. I am going back to a vauccum with a bag taht gets thrown away with the dust it traps.

5 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Buy   August 23, 2005

When it comes to my household purchases, this vacuum is by far one of the best. Right from the start, when I saw the brand name Hoover, I knew I would be getting a reliable appliance. When I still lived at home with my parents, we had always had a Hoover upright vacuum, as well as a Hoover hand vacuum for the stairs, so for me purchasing this vacuum was a no-brainer.
As I moved into my first apartment, I knew I would want a Hoover vacuum for my place as well. Since I have limited storage space and no stairs, I decided to get the upright vacuum that has a folding handle for convenient storage. I was also very pleased to get such a great price for this model, seeing as how it was on sale over thirty percent off the ticket price.
I have a kitten that is quite messy when it comes to the litter box and the food bowl, so this vacuum comes in handy for a quick cleanup. While the suction is strong enough to pick up food particles and kitty litter off of the tile floor, it is also great for sucking up nasty dust bunnies in the carpet.
As far as the noise level is concerned, I have never noticed an excessive amount of noise, I am pretty sure this vacuum is actually one of the quietest vacuums I have ever owned, but remember it is a vacuum and there will be some noise!
I am not quite sure why this vacuum has gotten such misleading reviews in the past. I have had this vacuum for a little over 4 months and I am still happy with it. I would definitely recommend this model to anyone who is looking for a reliable, moderately priced vacuum.

1 out of 5 stars Made off shore by Maytag   May 21, 2005

My model was a Hoover U6616-900 WindTunnel Self Propelled Bagless Upright

This thing was great for two months while it lasted. The first 800 sq foot of carpet looks great compared to the rest of the house. However the Hoover went up in smoke. The manual says it has an over heat cut-off, but it over heated and all I could see was smoke. I had to air the house out. Taking the machine to the only authorized repair in the area 30 miles away, they laughed when they saw me coming in with the vacuumed. The said don't tell us it over heated. Yep and the motor fried $$$$$.

I admitted that the house was extra dirty but that was no excuse. Their official stand is that the final filter was too dirty and it was my fault. I should not have relied on the heat cutoff and not let my filter get dirty. WHAT! Not let the filter get dirty. Yep if it gets dirty all warranties are off.

The dealer said any fool that would buy a Hover that is now made by Maytag off shore deserves what I got.

So much for the Warranty.
