Dirt is a normal part of a carpet's everyday wear and tear--but that dirt can get ground deep into a rug's fibers every time it's walked on, damaging them permanently. Portable, lightweight, and easy to use, the Bissell PowerLifter Upright Deep Cleaner protects and extends carpet life by removing deep-down grit and stains, using just hot tap water, deep-cleaning detergent, and the unit's two-row, rotating PowerBrush. Carpets are left clean, odor-free, even gently groomed for a polished look. The PoweLifter's user-friendly design includes thoughtful touches like a comfortable ergonomic handle, quick-release cord hooks, lint screen, heavy-duty rear casters, a transparent window to even a convenient clip-on measuring cup. Easy-access, high-capacity "Tank-in-Tank" construction keeps dirty water away from clean water and is also impossible to overfill, thanks to an automatic shut-off function. The unit's 12-inch-wide cleaning path covers more ground in less time, while the 25-foot power cord spares users from unplugging and re-plugging when cleaning larger rooms.

This is the first carpet cleaner I have ever owned. Previously, I always rented one from Wal-mart. When I saw the low price on this, I thought it would be worth a try. And it is. It is not a Cadilac, but it is very easy to use, to clean out afterwards, and I think does a great job. I add vinegar to the cleaning water, and not any detergents or other chemicals. Once when I had a particularly germy thing going on (thanks to my dog), I also added some bleach. It worked great! No stain, no smell. I'm very happy with this cleaner. For the price, it's a real bargain.

This machine puts down a half gallon of clean, soapy water, but only draws up 1/4 cup of the dirty water. The rest of the gallon stays in the carpet. I don't care how many times you run the machine over the same spot. It will not pull out the filthy liquid. My carpet was still saturated with foul water hours later.

I could tell you about the handle that doesn't fit securely. I could complain about the useless, cheap, thin bladder that separates the dirty water from the clean water. I could even complain about the clumps of pet hair this machine spits out all over the rug, but what's the point? This Bissell doesn't clean. Everything else wrong with it is a moot point.

This is a sorry excuse for a shampooer. It disgusts me that Bissell, a well-respected company, produced this piece of junk, called it a "cleaner" and then pawned it off on the consumer. In my opinion it's nothing less than fraud.

I'm putting this new machine at the curb on trash pickup day. Unfortunately I saved neither the box it came in, nor the receipt, so I can't return it to the store. What an absolute waste of money!

I have never had a Bissell that lasted more than a year. This one didnt even work out of the box. The water wouldnt come out. I WILL NEVER BY ANOTHER BISSELL.

I never write a review, but here I have to do it. I don't know why other people gave 5 stars... Here is why after using it for 2 months I gave only 1 star:
- sucks very weakly because of extreamly narrow slit
- when you are trying to wash carpet all dirt comes out of the vacuum cleaner right onto your carpet, and it doesn't go back because of narrow slit
- after you picked up all the dirt with your hands and finished your 'cleaning' it is imposible to clean the vacuum 'cause most of the parts can not be disassembled; therefore you'll need very long needle or knife to scoop out the dirt from your vacuum
- also be prepared to clean the brush with scissors

Did I mention that sometimes some yellow crap comes out of the vacuum and adorn your carpet with nice yellow unremovable stains?

Will never buy a vacuum online. I'd recommend you to go in a store and see averything with your own eyes.

After using this machine, I was amazed by how clean my carpets looked! I could not believe how dirty they had been and I didn't even know it! When I emptied out the dirty water, I was shocked by how dirty it actually was! The brushes worked very well at getting the deep down dirt out of the carpet as well as leaving my carpet beautifully groomed! It was very easy to assemble and even easier to use. I have been wanting to purchase a deep cleaner for a long time and am thrilled with my purchase.
