Love the light but not the lifespan July 3, 2008

I love the light that my floor model Ott Lite produces. I use it to read and to knit. It makes an incredible difference in my ability to see small stitches and match colors. However, the first one I bought died after about 18 months use. I am trying one again, but won't order another if this one stops working in such short period of time.

I bought this light for my mom, who needed a portable floor lamp for her "computer corner". There are no overhead lights in this room at all, so the corners are always too dark to work. The computer desk is situated in such a way that there is no room for a decent desk lamp. So this item really fits the bill in that sense. So far, she says it works great. Easy on the eyes, in more ways than one, and she said it was simple to put together. I have not had a chance to actually see the lamp in operation, and she probably has less than 3 or 4 hours on it at this point...but so far, so good!
