Muted greens, rose, yellow, and terra cotta and delightful sparks of brighter orange and yellow in this casual dinnerware pattern evoke the play of sun and shade in a New Orleans courtyard garden. Particularly striking are the salad/dessert plates, with their centers of mottled green and a floral pattern in which orange blossoms and a single yellow blossom peek out from blue green leaves. The leaves and orange blossoms decorate all 20 pieces of this set, which consists of four complete place settings: 10-1/2-inch dinner plates, 8-inch salad/dessert plates, 12-ounce soup/cereal bowls, 8-ounce cups, and 6-inch saucers. I loved these dishes when they arrived. Now after just a couple of years, they are fading very badly and unevenly, and the silverware marks that others mention are horrendous!

I love the pattern on these dishes but after having them for a couple of years, I'm ready to ditch them because of the flatware marks. If you don't get them off, the plates look gross and believe me, it's a chore to get the marks off, only to have them come back after the next meal. I've found that a can of Zud and a load of elbow grease will eventually get the marks off but it's just not worth the effort anymore. I can't recommend this set unless Pfaltzgraff stops ignoring the problem and deals with it.

I searched and searched for new everyday dishes and looked at french quarter a long time before I decided to purchase. I LOVE the design. As soon as I used them, I started getting the silverware markings. I tried the pfaltzgraff recommended cleaner but it doesn't work well enough to remove the marks, only lighten them a little. The cereal bowls, dinner plates and serving bowl and platter are all marked. Now the platter is cracked and broken, and it was NEVER dropped or banged. Every time I look at these dishes it makes me sad. I loved the pattern so but they look just awful. I am tired of making apologies to my guests. Pfaltzgraff says that the marking is NOT a defect. WHAT? Everytime I use them I have to apply a special acidic cleaner and let them sit in a vain attempt to remove marks? Sorry pfaltzgraff, you blew it and won't admit it. We have decided to ditch these and get new ones. NOT PFALTZGRAFF.

Not what I expect from Pfaltzgraff August 14, 2005

We have had Pfaltzgraff dishes for *years* and went to these because we wanted a change in dishes. We have had them for 2 years and they have faded, chipped very easily and the pattern is faded. They are absolutely covered with marks from the flatware. - Ours are the made in China variety if that is a factor in their quality.

We have not ever had this kind of problem with the previous Pfaltzgraff sets we have owned. I would not buy again, in fact we are planning to take the remaining good pieces and give them to Goodwill and start over, probably with a set made by someone else. My mother-in-law has has had her set of Pfaltzgraff for something like 15 years and it looks better than ours... From Pfaltzgraff I exepected higher quality.

Lovely, Functional, and Durable February 23, 2005

I'm very pleased with my purchase of the Pfaltzgraff "French Quarter" stoneware. We've been using it for several months now, long enough to get some data on how it hold up in a family with two teenagers. So far, the dishes have survived almost daily trips through the dishwasher in beautiful condition, with no fading or chips. After two months of daily use, we have yet to see any of the black marks on the plates which I have been told are caused by the nickel in our silverware rubbing off on the dishes. I've also been told, though, that Pfaltzgraff offers a special cleaner to take care of that problem if it occurs.

The floral design and colors of this pattern are just lovely. Each piece has a pleasing weight. One of the best features of these dishes, compared to the set which I replaced (which was Corelle), is that the stoneware does a marvelous job of heat retention, helping to keep your food and beverages warm.

In addition to the four pieces featured in the place setting, I also purchased the dessert plates, which are an incredibly handy size for toast or cookies.

A final note is that my teenagers LOVE the design of the bowl, (which is rimless), making the bowls much more user-friendly for serving cereal and soup.
