The Royal Doulton 5-piece Tennyson dinnerware set includes one 10-1/2-inch dinner plate, one 8-inch salad plate, one 6-1/2-inch bread plate, one 6-inch saucer, and one 8-ounce teacup. The pattern features taupe leaf-and-foliage bands and borders, reminiscent of William Morris fabrics, on glazed white bone china. The floral borders are detailed with gleaming gold edges, as are the teacup handle and the inner rim borders on the plates. Matching serving pieces within the Tennyson pattern include a large and medium platter, an oval vegetable dish, and an elegant gravy or sauce boat.

Because of the gold trim, Tennyson dishes should not be used in the microwave. Though not designed to handle extreme temperature changes, Royal Doulton's Tennyson china can be pre-warmed for serving in a 100-degree oven. Tennyson china is dishwasher safe; it can handle water temperatures of up to 150 degrees F. When hand washing, avoid abrasive cleansers and scourers. When stacking for storage, the best way to avoid scratches is to place a paper napkin between each bowl or plate.
