Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Henckels makes it possible to have your proper Chef's knife even if you're on a bit of a budget. The 8-in. knife is a great choice for those who do lots of chopping, slicing and prepping of vegetables and meats. It conquers the challenge of meal prep while ensuring a comfortable, safe grip and offers a traditional look that so many cooks love. Made in Germany, each Twin Signature knife features a hand-honed, laser-sharpened blade using Henckels signature FRIODUR high-carbon, ice-hardened process for producing quality stainless steel knives. The ergonomic handle has a traditional three-rivet construction encompassing a full tang for high durability.

5 out of 5 stars Kenckels does it again   June 20, 2008
This knife was to replace my 6" knife that disappeared from the twin signature set. Very clean cut, excellent craftsmanship & quality you expect from Henckels. Excellent buy

5 out of 5 stars Extremely Happy   June 9, 2008
My husband is a beginner's collector of Henckel knives. This would be our sixth. This is our favorite by far. It slices and chops with ease. We highly recommend it!

5 out of 5 stars Sleek, Sharp, Great Knives!   March 28, 2008
The Twin Signature is the lower end of Henckels more professional brand. The knives are sleek, very sharp. Great Value for great price (when on sale).

4 out of 5 stars very good knife   August 1, 2007

The handle of the knife is very comfortable to hold.

4 out of 5 stars Hurts my hand, but great buy   August 1, 2007

I ordered this knife as part of a budding good-knife collection. I've used it for about two weeks now, to cut everything: chocolate, chicken, fruit, bacon, onions, and lots and lots of scrap paper (alas, even a curious man's fingernail fell victim to this knife). It's very sharp, and holds a blade as you'd expect a Henckels knife to do. It performs quite well.

However, I'm not sure it will become my favorite knife. An odd thing happens when I use it: I can't just grab the handle and control the knife like you'd expect to control any decent chef's knife. I end up laying my whole index finger along the top of the blade and crowding all of the rest of my fingers in the front 1.5" of handle space. I try to make myself use only the handle, but the knife feels unwieldy and strange. I'd chalk this peculiarity up to my own ignorance of how to properly use a knife, but here's the thing--the boyfriend, using it the other day to cut chocolate (okay, it was his fingernail that fell victim to the "test kitchen" trials), found himself holding the knife the very same way.

We might just be weird, and yes, Amazon is selling a great German knife for $33, but be warned--that grip just isn't as comfortable, nor does it provide the same power, as a more expensive Henckels knife.
