Henckels's International line offers affordable cutlery from one of the world's most renowned knife manufacturers. A great value for a novice cook, this 13-piece set contains the following: 2-3/4-inch paring knife, 6-inch utility knife, 8-inch chef's knife, 8-inch bread knife, 5-1/2-inch boning knife, six 4-1/2-inch steak knives, 9-inch sharpening steel, and a graphite-painted storage block. Formed of contoured, almost cushy santoprene, the handles are handsomely-backed with brushed stainless steel for added leverage and a sleek, contemporary look.

Fine Edge Synergy knives are constructed of stamped German stainless steel with hand-honed blades that can be resharpened (unlike the company's Everedge knives that have identical handles but micro-serrated edges). The molded handles are quite comfortable and resist breakage, and the full-tang blades slice and chop with ease. All the pieces store in the included graphite-painted wood block. What a disappointment... July 22, 2008
I purchased these knives hoping that they would be the quality that I expect from the Henckels name....NOPE! The handles are great...the blades are not. Mine are rusting and I have never put them in the dishwasher. Not one time. I am careful to wash them asap, just to avoid rusting, but it doesn't seem to matter.

Truly a disappointment for the money spent.

These knives work fine, and are certainly sleek and stylish in the kitchen, but the blades rusted after just a few uses. I cleaned them as directed.

This is a nice set. It comes with all the knives you really need. They are pretty sharp. I love the handle. Very comfortable to use. It looks good in the counter. There are many more that are probably better but this does the job and the price is about right for the set.

Rusting Stainless Steel??? April 20, 2008

I didn't realize stainless would rust, I own other stainless products that are 20 years old and they have never rusted, not one spot. After 1 week 4 of the knives have rusted. I should have known you get what you pay for as these are the low end Henckels made in China.

Rusting after the first wash - Dont waste your money! February 10, 2008

I bought these thinking that the Henckels brand meant real quality. But they have gone the cheap route and I don't think I will be buying another Henckels set again. My old "Laser" knives from Walmart for $14.99 were heavier steel and rust proof. Cant believe that these knives started rusting from day 1 and now everyone of these has rust spots on them.

They are very sharp, however. But so is a $1.99 knife you can get from a grocery store. From Henckels you expect more than sharp - they need to be durable and of high grade. The point is, this is low grade stainless steel you should stay away from. $50 is a good amount to spend on a knife set, and you should expect better.
