Lovely place setting August 18, 2008
My husband and I bought a service for 16 of this pattern about two years ago to replace our old worn-out silverware. It's a nice solid heavy set, good heft to the knife (which for some reason was important to my husband). The styling is quite beautiful - simple but elegant. It complements both modern and traditional china equally well, and could easily be used with both casual and formal china, too. The pieces are well-proportioned. They're neither too large nor too dainty. The finish is mirror-like but seems to hold up well to daily use and the dishwasher.

I have two complaints and they're kind of minor. First, the knife edge is not sharp (no serrations). You will need to use a separate steak knife for tougher meats. And the bowl of the teaspoon is somewhat deep which makes getting your upper lip down into the bowl more of an effort. You're going to have to work harder for the last bit of ice cream on that spoon! Eh...I can live with that!

It really is beautiful flatware and looks much more expensive than the price would indicate. I have 16 settings...would I have bought that many if they were just so-so? (OK, so you don't know me, but trust me, I wouldn't! I'm quite fussy about these things!)

We've had this flatware for one year. It still looks brand new. We put these in our dishwasher and have had no problem; and I wash dishes A LOT! They are heavy, but feel really good in your hand. I think it is beautiful and I've had many compliments on it. There are a lot of pieces available, however I wish there were long handle ice tea spoons. I would recommend these to anyone.

The Alora flatware is a gift for my granddaughter, so I am not sure how well it wears as she has not used it yet. The pieces that we gave her for her weding wore very well.
