5 out of 5 stars easy to use, well made ice cream maker   April 21, 2008

we love this product. easy to use, easy to clean, works very well! bought it with the ben and jerry's ice cream cookbook, which is fabulous! my kids love the ice cream maker and we use it often -- little cream, little milk and fruit, cookies or chocolate and you are good to go.

5 out of 5 stars Cuisinart 2QT ice cream maker   April 19, 2008
Delicious! Quick clean up! No, ice and salt mess to deal with. The machine runs quietly on the counter. I love this machine and the recipe that allows our family to utilize the raw milk that we drink! Never any leftovers.=)

1 out of 5 stars Not up to Cuisinart Standards   April 14, 2008

I bought this ice cream machine because I wanted a small, lightweight maker that had a removable bowl. I have a high-end ice cream maker from Simac that's held up for over 20 years (it was over $400 at the time), but I wanted something that was easier to clean, larger capacity, and lighter.

I knew that this was a bowl that needs to go into the freezer, which is how every ice cream maker under $100 works, but I figured that an $80 Cuisinart would do it better than a $40 no-name. Most of the time, Cuisinart delivers; this is not one of those times.

I really wanted it to work, and I gave it two chances. The first time it came out half-liquid, I thought that I did not freeze the bowl enough, even though the core was frozen solid. The second time was no better, and I left the bowl in the freezer for a whole day. Both times, I wound up finishing the ice cream in the old Simac, which worked like a charm.

If you really are serious about making ice cream, don't waste your money on a freezer-bowl model. The top of the line in that category still isn't worth its weight in ice cream.

This is not your grandma's ice cream maker. SO much easier than the ice and salt method. Keep cylinder stored in your freezer and you can make ice cream at a moment's notice. Friends and family love it when we make ice cream. Ben and Jerry's recipes are great!

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful Icecream   March 28, 2008

We purchased this item a couple weeks ago. It makes excellent ice cream.
I have read the reviews that have been posted that you can not make anything till the drum freezes. Well if you think about that it is really a stupid comment. You are making ice cream "hello" you need extreme cold. We have used the vanilla recipe and think that it is wonderful. Yes it comes out on the "soft serve" consistency, so we take a couple small bowls of it and then put it in the freezer; we always have some on hand for that last minute ice cream craving
I think that this machine is well worth it !!
