There's nothing as luscious as a ripe mango. Growing in popularity, mangoes are now available in many stores year-round and can be eaten fresh, cubed into salads, or sliced and baked on top of chicken breasts. Helping prepare the fruit for eating is this ingenious mango splitter from OXO. The splitter is a circular white plastic device with sharp stainless-steel blades in the center and OXO's signature black comfort handles on two sides. Holding both handles, the user pushes the blades down through the mango from the top, separating the seed from two halves of mango. The flesh can then be cubed or sliced off the skin on those two halves. After the prep work, the mango splitter slips right into the dishwasher for hassle-free cleaning. --Ann Bieri

For those of you who love mangoes but do not like them mushed when you eat them, please try the slicer! You will never again eat a hand prepared mango! Fantastic item to add to the many fantastic items OXO has for today food preppers!

Another useless toy July 8, 2008
I bought this upon America's Test Kitchen recommendation but it only works for small or medium mangos and does not work for larger ones. A good peeler and knife work just fine. Another gadget that's gonna take some space in the kitchen without much benefit.

this product works well. you should slice the bottom off the mango so it sits flat while using it.

This product sucks! July 1, 2008
I was very excited to get this mango splitter until I tried to use it. I made certain I had the "blade" side to the mango and when pressing down, it didn't even penetrate the skin. The more pressure that was applied, only turned the entire mango to mush on the bottom, losing all the great juice. ended up getting out my trustworthy knife and cutting it the traditional way. This iten is a big waste of money.

Handy-dandy tool that works like a charm June 14, 2008
I bought this item as a silly, add-on anniversary gift for my mango-loving husband. It's been a month now, and he still hasn't stopped raving about it. It does what it says, and it does it well. That's about the highest compliment I can pay a kitchen gadget.
