Amazon.com Review
Each Le Creuset French oven is individually sand-cast of rugged cast iron, then clad in two coats of hard, colorful enamel. The result? Cookware so durable it's covered by a lifetime warranty, and so attractive you'll proudly bring it to the table. Cast iron retains and distributes heat evenly, making this oval pot with its tight-fitting lid especially good for the slow, stovetop simmering of soups and stews. Because the black phenolic lid knob is oven-safe to 400 degrees, the pot and lid can be used to bake a side dish whose cheesy crust can be browned under the broiler with the lid removed. And, the nonporous enameled pot is handy for marinating meats and storing leftovers in the refrigerator.

This oval French oven (some might call it a Dutch oven) holds five quarts, the ideal size for macaroni-and-cheese or a side dish of rice pilaf. The exterior comes in a choice of several bright, modern colors, while the interior keeps a more neutral tone to showcase your cuisine. The enamel resists cracking and staining and is best cared for when the contents are stirred with nylon, wood, or silicone utensils. It's also so smooth that food particles tend not to stick, making cleaning by hand or in the dishwasher a snap. Made in France, the Le Creuset French oven is guaranteed to be free of defects for the lifetime of the original owner, whether self-purchased or received as a gift. --Ann Bieri

5 out of 5 stars Another winner from Le Creuset   September 24, 2008
I own a couple of Le Creusets, but this is now my favorite pot. If you had to own one pot, this should be it. I love the width, and use it for stir-fry, risotto, chicken stews, and to mix pasta. It retains the heat very well, so you use less energy.
I bought it from TJMaxx for 100$ less than Amazon price...so keep your eye out at TJMaxx or Marshals, and grab one quick if you see it, you will never regret it.
Totally worth the price.

5 out of 5 stars Very useful   December 21, 2007
We've had this only for a week, and we've cooked in it three times already. It is Le Creuset, of course, with the quality you expect, and this happens to be a perfect size.

This French Oven is awesome! We are the proud owners of 2 LeCreuset ovens. This 5-quart really fits our needs better than the bigger one.

Definitely worth the $$$!

This pot is the perfect size. It cooks great and cleans easy. It is also beautiful enough to serve in. I have used it often since my purchase and have not been disappointed. It is one of my most expensive pieces, but I think it will last a life time.

5 out of 5 stars I Love This Thing   January 4, 2007

This was my first and is still my favorite Le Creuset piece. It heats evenly, cleans up easily. It's great for small roasts (make your gravy in the same pot, it goes right on the stovetop), chili, soups, and everything in between. I can't imagine my kitchen life without this pot.
