The colors are a little washed out. They are not as bright as they look on line. Some of the plates are not flat. They look like a warped record. Otherwise, the set is pretty for spring but i can't see using this in fall or winter.

Beautiful everyday dishes September 26, 2007

Just received my Pfaltzgraff dishes and they are more beautiful and more brilliantly colored than their computer image. They are vividly colorful without being too gaudy for everyday use. I bought them for my wife, but my boys like them also. They say the dishes remind them of spring. Several pieces were broken, by the delivery man dropping them on the concrete porch. But, Amazon cheerfully sent out replacements the next day, at no charge. The bowls do not look big, but they really are 16 ounces, more than enough for cereal or soup. It is not often that you find everyday stoneware from a quality brand for this price. I plan to get the remaining extra pieces to complete the set. The dishes are made in China, but nowadays many large companies have factories in China, and that does not affect their quality. I am sure they would cost a lot more if they were made in England or the USA.

Note: Just received the replacement dishes, but they had fine "spider lines" in the finish of the plates. :-(
Perhaps the quality is not what I first thought, or maybe just a bad lot of plates, but disappointing anyway. Perhaps made in China is an issue.
