Much smaller than expected May 23, 2008

I expected a "9 inch" square baker to be larger than the 8 inch square baker I already have; but this dish isn't. It's immediately apparent when you see it, but I measured it to be sure. Measuring the inside dimensions, the bottom is 7 and 1/2 inches across. It's shallow, about 1 and 3/4 inches deep, and at the very top of the lip, it measures 8 and 1/2 inches across. While it does just barely measure 9 inches at its outer limits, I think it's misleading for Amazon and/or Le Creuset to describe this as a 9 inch square baker, which is generally understood to be an oversize dish. The small bonus dish was equally smaller than advertised. If you already have an 8" baker and are looking for the next larger size, keep looking - this will be a disappointment.

You just can't beat LeCreuset; the 9" is a perfect size for a generous 4 serving lasagna and the sweet little bonus dish is a bonus indeed that will get plenty of use. Everything bakes beautifully in these, and they clean up in a snap. I have the kiwi and the color is beautiful. Very happy they are all mine.
