Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Review
The beautiful, round French oven is perhaps the most well-known of all Le Creuset cookware. Each is individually sand-cast of rugged cast iron, then clad in two coats of hard, colorful enamel. The result? Cookware so durable it's covered by a lifetime warrantee, and so attractive you'll proudly bring it to the table. Cast iron retains and distributes heat evenly, making the pot with its tight-fitting lid especially good for the slow, stovetop simmering of soups and stews. Because the black phenolic lid knob is oven-safe to 400 degrees, the pot and lid can be used to roast meat and potatoes or bake a casserole whose cheesy crust can be browned under the broiler with the lid removed. And, the nonporous enameled pot is handy for marinating meats and storing leftovers in the refrigerator.

This particular French oven (some might call it a Dutch oven) with its capacity of 6-3/4 quarts is wider and shallower than the classic Le Creuset model. This enables liquid to evaporate more efficiently and results in a more even baking of rice pilaf, risotto, and pasta dishes. Le Creuset suffuses the exterior in the bright, modern color of your choice, while keeping a more neutral tone on the interior to showcase the cuisine. The enamel resists cracking and staining and is best cared for when the contents are stirred with non-metal utensils. It's also so smooth that food particles tend not to stick, making cleaning by hand or in the dishwasher a snap. Made in France, Le Creuset premium cookware brings joie de vivre to any kitchen it graces. --Ann Bieri

5 out of 5 stars Quality   March 26, 2008
This is about the best piece of cookware I have bought in years - it has inspired me to make soup, sauces and more. It is a joy to use. Clean up is a snap also. Highly recommend this size for 4 people (always enough room for some extras to become tomorrows lunch).

5 out of 5 stars NO REGRETS WITH THIS GREAT POT!   February 13, 2008
I am a "from scratch" cook and had had a Le Creuset pot on my wish list for quite a while. This beautiful French Oven was a gift to myself this Christmas, and I wish I had bought it years ago. I bought the oval, since I plan on trying some recipes with whole chickens. The 6-3/4 quart is just right--not too big, not to small. It makes awesome tender Yankee pot roast, start to finish. Chili is a dream, from browning the meat to a never-gets-cold-in-this-heavy-pot presentation at the table! You can't go wrong with this gift, either for yourself or a friend!

I ordered this as a Christmas gift. It quickly arrived with a nice note. I was very pleased.

3 out of 5 stars Le Creuset   January 23, 2008

The product was of good quality but extremely overpriced based on subsequent findings. In fact I returned the item (and I have been waiting for a refund for nearly three weeks now!) because I found it locally in a cooking store at a price of more than $100 less than what I paid Amazon. Even with paying postage both ways totalling $40.00 the new source was a better deal.

So much for Amazon's assertions of competitive prices and good customer service.

I returned the item to you under RMA 0102-150549839 per your return policy on January 2, 2008. Although I have communicated with the department and know that they have received the item back, I'm still waiting for an Le Creuset 6-3/4 Quart Wide French Oven, Kiwiactual result.

5 out of 5 stars Just beautiful   November 20, 2007

I just got it today and havent cooked in it yet but the craftmanship is superb. The color is better than in the picture whereby it is darker in color at the base then lightens up as it rises. I agree with other reviewers that you can leave it on the counter or stove top as a decoration. The size is perfect for cooking a large chicken.
