5 out of 5 stars Great Unitasker.   May 31, 2008
My wife swore that this would end up like the coffee maker i got her for xmas. Use it once or twice then in the cabinet for ever. She was wrong. The entire family uses it. I like the English Breakfast Tea, wife likes the Chai Latte, kids like the hot chocolate, and every one likes the capochino. Fast and tasty hot drinks. Great selection of drinks to choose from.

2 out of 5 stars Makes fast but bitter coffee.   April 26, 2008

After ordering this machine I couldn't wait to try it. I ordered 10 different types of beverages for it and after trying nearly all of them, I have yet to find a coffee that doesn't taste bitter. The hot chocolate was good, but so far, every coffee has been nearly undrinkable.

5 out of 5 stars Time-saving, convenient, and a much nicer product selection than at launch...   April 12, 2008

I liked this problem when I first bought it, would have easily given it four stars...but recent updates to the T-Disc product selection (ie: Starbucks)bumped it up to a 5. I like that I can make a tea for my wife, a cappuccino for myself, and a hot chocolate for my kid, all within about three minutes and without any grounds or filters to clean up.

Great for a quick cup of coffee on the way out the door, easy to clean, and doesn't take up too much counter space. The pump does make more noise than a drip coffee maker, but it's a touch quieter than the grind-and-brew I used to use. Also great for guests...Seems there's always someone who wants a decaf when everyone else wants espresso, or someone who would have had a latte, but they didn't want to impose on the host if there were no other takers...with the Tassimo, such individual requests are easy to accommodate.

3 out of 5 stars Great, but has its drawbacks too   April 6, 2008

This is the most convenient coffee maker I have ever owned, but it has a few minor flaws that keep it from earning a 4 or 5 stars in my opinion.

THE GOOD:

* Starbucks, Starbucks, Starbucks
* It's small
* It's easy to operate
* Provides "instant coffee" convenience
* No mess, ever!

THE BAD:

* Big mugs don't fit well
* No way to permanently adjust the strength of the coffee.
* Someone always has to wait their turn.
* It's noisy
* Sometimes the heater light stays on and will not go to automatic, forcing me to open and close the top again. This seems like a system error. Maybe it's just mine.
* Convenience costs. Starbucks translates to approx $0.77/cup, which is rediculous when you consider you can buy 1 pound of Starbucks for $10 and make dozens of cups.

4 out of 5 stars Can't beat it for convenience....   April 4, 2008

I have two of these machines - one at home and one in my office - and can't live without them. Although we have a traditional espresso machine and all the implements to make an unbelievable cappucino/latte - who has the time? At breakfast the kids can have their choice of hot beverage - the caramel latte is pretty damn good! - and I can make a cup of coffee to take with me without making a mess and spending half an hour on beverages in the morning.

It's also great in the office - although beware of office mates hanging about your office expecting you to make them a cup of coffee each morning....leeches. You also need to be able to control yourself unless drinking six cups of espresso a day isn't such a big deal. I tend to find that by 3pm I'm talking about a mile a minute and people around me think I'm a bit of a nut. It's just the caffeine folks, I'm normally quite sane.

The only complaint I have is the little bit of leaking that occurs as the brewing happens, yeah the little catch tray thingy helps, but after you've been brewing coffee all day that things fills up pretty quickly. That and the fact that the pods get a bit expensive and I've been feeling guilty about using so many of them when I don't think they're recyclable...I'd care more - but in a competition between getting my daily required dose of caffeine and saving the environment, the caffeine always wins. Hey, don't blame me for being a conscience-less consumer...blame Tassimo for not coming up with a more earth-friendly way of packaging their caffeine crack.
