4 out of 5 stars GREAT COFFEE BUT ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT....   June 15, 2008
As someone mention this one doesn't have a shut off bottom which can be dangerous if anyone forgets to shut it off. The coffee this percolator makes is the best tasting coffee but I only give it 4 stars since needs some improvements. Something like auto shut off and maybe a timer. The item looks great and the workmanship looks of the highest quality....except for the base which can also be improve but is not noticeable at all. I do recommend this item though, that is if you are looking for the best cup of coffee. The percolator also looks great also. I also recommend that you test this item right after you get it. I had to return the first one I got since the front light was not working properly. Too expensive to be faulty.

1 out of 5 stars Faded Love   April 9, 2008

When we first got this percolator about 6 months ago, we loved it. Recently it started popping the ground fault plug in the kitchen and we had to move it into the dining room to make the coffee. We discovered it has a slow leak below the handle. If you fill it up the night before and plug it in the next morning, there's water underneath it. But even if we wait until morning it still pops the plug, and no amount of drying off the leaking water seems to help. This has become a huge hassle and now I'm shopping for another one.

4 out of 5 stars A better cup of coffee   April 5, 2008
I've had this about a week now. I love it! My last coffee maker was a black and decker drip type. It died after a little more than a year and I was sick of it anyway - hard to clean, didn't get hot enough, etc., But then they are all like that.

So I decided to go back to a percolator. I couldn't believe how much better it tasted! I haven't had percolated coffee in about 30 years and had forgotten how much better it is.

And you don't have to fool with filters. I use it without a filter and I don't have any grounds in the coffee as some people have mentioned with these type of percolators so I don't think you really need them if you're careful when you load it.

I love that it gets piping hot and stays hot to the last cup. And you are able to clean all the parts unlike the drip makers which are hard to clean. The stainless steel is easy to keep clean (inside and out).

The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because there is no way to reduce the heat to low. It stays just barely at the boiling point. It would be nice if they had a switch to turn the heat on low when you want to leave it sitting a while when you have only a couple of cups left.

There is a window that allows you to see the coffee which is nice. However the side window is marked to a max of 10 cups. However you'll notice that if you measure your water, you'll see that the 10 cup mark is actually six measured cups. I just fill it now to the max line and fill the coffee holder to its max and it turns out fine. Good to the last drop ....

I recommend!

3 out of 5 stars Forgot to add the botton   December 1, 2007
It looks great, makes GREAT coffee! BUT! Whoever designed it forgot to ad the switch button! In other words, you have to unplug the Percolator in order to turn it off. Someone at work did not know that and accidentally placed almost empty Percolator back on the base, and if we did not notice it on time it would probably get burned... What a shame! Because other then that - none of the people at the office are going to StarBucks anymore!!!

5 out of 5 stars LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT   November 26, 2007

I am a percolator type person, have been for years, so I know something about percolators. I LOVE THIS LITTLE PERCOLATOR! It's fast, HOT, I like the glass window to see the water level and that it has the old timey top to show the coffee. For fun go here to watch the original maxwell house commercial [...]
I also like the small platform that plugs into the wall while you simply plop the coffee pot onto it and can take it to where ever you want.

Cheers,
Angela
