Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The Cuisinart automatic 12-cup coffee maker uses the same brewing system found in commercial coffeemakers so you can be assured of getting a truly satisfying cup of coffee. With its 12-cup capacity, you can bet the other 11 cups are going to be equally tasty. Easy to clean Gold Filter with easy swing-out basket Brew Pause Color - Black with brushed stainless-steel accents

Amazon.com Review
Strikingly retro in brushed stainless-steel with black-plastic accents, this 12-cup coffeemaker includes Cuisinart's best brewing technology and premium features for ease and flexibility. The digital clock/timer is programmable for automatically brewing "wake-up" coffee at a selected time and for turning off the warming plate up to four hours in advance. Removing the glass carafe from the warming plate automatically pauses the brewing process for a quick pour, and the warming plate's temperature can be adjusted. For maximum flavor, the machine can be set to brew one to four 5-ounce cups or five to twelve cups, and it includes a charcoal water filter. For convenience, a permanent Gold Tone filter eliminates messy paper filters and an indicator-light shows when decalcification is needed. The coffeemaker measures 14-1/4 inches high, 8 inches wide, and 10-3/4 inches deep (including carafe handle) and carries a three-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

5 out of 5 stars Love this coffee maker   May 13, 2008
This is the best coffee maker I have ever had. IT does make the coffee taste better and it makes a full pot of coffee it about 2 minutes. The programming takes awhile to get used to but worth every effort. Very Happy with purchase and would buy again.

2 out of 5 stars makes cold coffee; don't believe the hype   May 12, 2008
Seeing as it's so highly rated, I bought this for my wife for Christmas. It's a nice machine, but the coffee, while not cold, is more in the warm-to-mildly hot range. My wife couldn't stand it...and although I have a baby's tongue and usually don't like drinking liquids when they're really hot...even I found the coffee to be a bit on the cool side. More specifically, if you drink the coffee as soon as its ready, its reasonably hot. But after sitting in your mug for one minute its very noticeably no longer hot. If you make instant coffee with boiled water, you can really notice the difference in how long it takes it too cool.

I returned it to the store and got another one...but it had the same problem. Using the 1-4 cup button (which is supposed to warm the water faster) didn't help at all. We usually only made 3 cups of coffee, so the coffee might be alittle hotter if you make 10 cups at once. I eventually returned the second unit to the store. We just use our espresso machine to make coffee now...or use all the left-over coffee filters I bought to drip the coffee manually over a cup (which is a pain).

This machine has a few other flaws as well. The fill indicator is poorly designed. You almost need a flashlight to figure out how much water you've put into the machine.

A few final comments. I don't drink coffee much and this is the first coffee machine I've used. After doing a lot of research on the web, this seemed to be the top rated machine in its price class. The machine looks really nice, but I think that's basically what you're paying for. Functionally, there are $20-$30 models that are nearly good, probably better. But the main thing is that the coffee ain't hot, which really is a pretty important thing to get right for a machine whose main function is to heat water and squirt it through a filter.

5 out of 5 stars stylish and functional   May 10, 2008
I searched for a coffee maker that fits my needs for a really long time. This one was had everything I wanted and then some. It's very modern and stylish but reminiscent of a retro design. It works perfectly and although a little taller than I pictured it, perfect for my counter. It makes fabulous hot but not scorching temperature coffee and has great programmable fitures.

5 out of 5 stars Best Coffe Pot   May 8, 2008
We bought a Cuisinart DCC 1200 Brew Central Coffeemaker and it was worth every penny we paid. We love it, its easy to use, you can set the time you'd like it to go off. A great feature seems my husband has to get up for work any where between 2-4am. You also control how hot you want the coffee, a great feature especially if you want to use the coffee in a Thermos or a carafe. Honestly if your looking for a great coffeemaker, this definetly it.

5 out of 5 stars met my expectations   May 8, 2008
Nice coffeemaker. Makes great coffee and has all the features you need or want. I bought it based on the review ratings which were all good. It not only makes great coffee, it looks good as well. I like the hot plate temperature being selectable and the auto on-auto off feature. No complaints about it so far.
