Krups' special Deep Brew System employs a unique filtering action to enrich the flavor of ground beans when making coffee. To switch one of the coffeemakers to tea, the coffee filters conveniently swivel to the side so you can attach the tea filter. The controls on this coffeemaker are few and simple. They consist of separate illuminated power switches for each side of the coffeemaker and a button that slows the brewing cycle down for coffee when brewing less than three cups (works on the left side of the coffeemaker only). For tea, the number of cups can be set right on the filter to less than four cups or five or more cups to ensure the correct balance of flavor. Another convenient feature of this unit is its Stop `n' Serve capability, which pauses the brewing for 20 seconds while impatient caffeine drinkers pour a cup during the brewing process. Here's the coffeemaker that is fully equipped to brew large amounts of coffee and tea for home or office. With the additional coffee filter, up to 20 cups of coffee can be prepared. So, you can have a pot of regular coffee and a pot of flavored, or a pot of decaf, or a pot of tea. Krups Deep Brew technology features special filtering action for maximum flavor without bitterness. Additionally, their special heating and tubing system minimizes calcification and leaves no residual water in the system when brewing is complete.

However, this unit suffered from huge design flaws and doesn't meet the excellent quality I've had from all other Krups appliances I've ever owned. The DuoThek, in fact, was purchased (and returned) to replace a Krups espresso/coffeemaker that we've now stuck with, even though we don't use the espresso side at all.

Among the myriad flaws with this unit
* No instructions were included about using the tea brewing attachment
* Illustrations and manual didn't match what was shipped
* Cheap, flimsy plastic parts covered with dust and easy to get dirty
* No -- I repeat! -- no automatic shutoff! We almost destroyed one carafe on the first day because of this basic missing safety feature
* Coffee quality is ok, but not wonderful
* Parts don't fit together well: the swing out filter baskets lock into place on my current Krups; these kind of mush in.

Don't buy it.
